NAS- Hip Hop is Dead

dudes a chump.

Iā€™m just using him as an example, I donā€™t even like Wayne that much.

Hova is overrated, anyone who falls for that best rapper alive bullshit is just buying into hype.

men lie, women lieā€¦ numbers DONT!

I wouldd like to hear who u think is better?

so selling the most records is a fair judgement of skill that doesnā€™t account marketing? because marketing doesnā€™t lie either now does itā€¦

Hovaā€™s good, the best? meh, everyone says they are the best.

LL says heā€™s the greatest of all time. Uh, no.

I donā€™t know who I would ever drop as ā€œthe greatestā€ā€¦

Rakim is one of the greatest for sure.

Rakim-Allah!

no number do lie
when jay buys 250k of his own cdā€™s they lie

Quoted for truthā€¦ The biggest selling records are the biggest sellers because of marketing and promotion. Musical talent has absolutely nothing to do with it.

biggie.
no questions.
dead or alive.
the greatest rapper of all time died on march 9th.

jayz is some serious bullshit.

and god damn man. you honestly think jay is better than gangstarr, slick, big L, rakim, and everyone else pre-1995 from NYC. no fucking way.

Contrary to the popular belief, Gangstarr actually represents Boston. Primo is actually from TX too.

the fact of the matter is:

hip-hop is not deadā€¦fuck corny ass nas.

you guys are all talkin about older golden era hiphop and what not - since when were the ā€œ4 elementsā€ of hiphop displayed in Nasā€™s videos? Oh wait, never. It was always grimy ass Queensbridge shit. Now itā€™s the South, grimy ass street shit. Nas bitches, ā€œhip-hops deadā€ā€¦well heā€™s crying cuz the streets arenā€™t listening to him anymore. Face it itā€™s the same shit, different formula. Lyricism is just as on point as ever, donā€™t act like the new club jam shit is stupid because just like mentioned earlier, there was always stupid club shit - read: Oochie Wally by Nas. We could sit here and go line by line and guess what, the has-beens have just as many good and bad lines as the new dudes in their lyrical catalog.

Yeah everyone likes the early 90s shit and all, but you gotta accept hip-hop for what it is because lets face it, the lyrical content back then isnā€™t THAT great and/or different. You can debate lyrics all day long but in reality thereā€™s only so many ways you can express emotions so fuck it, as long as theyā€™re decent and have good lines, whatā€™s the fucking point of reading a few lines from each rapper trying to determine whatā€™s better? Fuck it, you like what you like and we like what we like.

Bottom line though, Nas, Jay-Z, all those catsā€¦has-beens. I wonā€™t take someone seriously that says hip-hop is dead - shit is as alive as itā€™s ever beenā€¦fuck it if anything all the harder street shit is more marketable then EVER right now.

Bring in the new contendersā€¦Jeezy, the Game, Camā€™ron/Dipset, Wayneā€¦whatever.

Let go of 1995 cuz it ainā€™t comin back.

Itā€™s funny how you mention Nas as being corny, when you FFWD to now, Nas has dropped some amazing records since and all the shit you hear mainstream is corny and mumbly.

Damn 17 years

is this the longest bump we have seen?
