need a gi specialist asap - recommendations?

ok, in need of one asap. was in the emergency department twice in the last 5 days, pain at a 10 on a scale of 1-10. the gi associates of buffalo(who hospital recommended) cant get me in until june 14th. i need an appointment for asap. probably need a camera stuck down in my stomach to see what is going on.

im checking all in the phonebook, but does anyone know someone they recommend? thanks…

Not sure about how quick they could get you in but Dr. Tuoti is thorough and seems to look at the bigger picture rather than just the core symptom. I’m trying to figure out why they released you if the pain was that severe, they should have called someone in! What hospital?

Yeah, if you were in that kinda pain, they shouldn’t have released you. Wish I could help. Good luck.

You can’t call the gi place back and make an emergency appointment?

being that this is a car forum maybe someone has bore scope?

My GF has been seeing this guy for some GI issues;

He was very nice to talk with when I went along with her for a couple of procedures. He fully explained what they saw, next steps, etc.

You may be SOL on getting an appt. soon though.

Where are you located? I call on about 95% of the GI’s the area for a living and can recommend you one where you are. Both Tuoti and Gupta are great. The other providers where Tuoti is, are very good.

Heavily second this.

thanks guys, def appreciated. turns out the place i called that said june 14th was tuoti’s office. calling gupta now and if not i may also just call another hospital to see if i can get something done asap.

as for where i was at, i was at millard fillmore. they finally gave me some fluids and meds through IV when i was shaking and lightheaded from the pain. a while after that when the pain went down a little they sent me home and said i need to see a specialist because they couldnt do anything there. still have a constant light pain from it but nowhere near like it was yesterday or last tuesday morning. seems to come and go.

I’m surprised the doctors don’t get you…

Usually when your at the ER twice they make room for emergency appointments at least this is according to my wife who is nurse lol

I bet Dr. Corasanti has a lot of openings.

To soon? I’m only half kidding. I hear he was a great doctor-- if you can get over the whole killing a girl thing.

But really, its tough to get these appointments on short notice. I’m surprised you got one that soon. Specialists are usually overbooked to begin with.

Ted Bundy was supposedly a really nice fella too.

bump. updating this for if anyone needs a doc or surgeon in the future.

no one in buffalo could get me in anytime remotely soon, so I saw dr devgun in Rochester of Rochester gastro associates. turns out his pops is professor devgun at buff state. seemed like an alright doc, figured out what was wrong with me.

also ended up seeing a urologist, dr gilbert in Cheektowaga of wny urology. very good doc, explains things well but the office is an absolute zoo. I was able to get in to see him same day I called, but the surgical scheduling lady is very slow.

ended up having a surgery with dr steinig of southtown surgical in orchard park, great doc. nice guy, explains things well and called/texted me daily to see how I was doing after.

for those curious, after having the couple ed visits, seeing the docs, upper gi scope, ultrasound, xrays, and bloodwork, turns out I had both gallstones and kidney stones. figures, just my luck right? the young healthy kid is the one with all the problems lol.

had laparoscopic gallbladder removal. surgeon was amazed I wasn’t in the hospital more then I was, and said I wouldn’t have made it another couple weeks. turns out my gallbladder was 3-5 times larger than normal, and I had a gallstone over an inch in diameter. sore now, but much better that ill be able to eat more than “bland” food again.

also found out I had kidney stones, looking like those are from too much calcium. have a procedure scheduled a few weeks out to take care of that, luckily those don’t even seem to be bothering me.

oh yeah, my surgery was at chs mercy in buffalo, I was very happy with my visit there. one lady was a bitch, but the other nurses and everyone else was very nice.

I had a kidney stone once and got it removed when I was 24-25? It’s actually pretty common for younger people now a days not drinking enough water and drinking tons a of pop/energy drinks.

Getting the kidney stone removed kinda sucked however

Those calcium oxalate stones have little to do with to much calcium and more to do with not enough water…If you get them your usually likely to get another within 2-3 years however im 29 now and never had another one I pretty much cut out pop out of my diet and drink a ton of water.

My wife is also a nurse at WNY Urology.

Wife went down hard a few years back, golf ball sized stone, and nearly 2" incision to yank them out when it was supposed to be a <1/4"… She was a shit mess for months before, and months afterwards recovering.

So, are you going to tear some shit up at Millard?

Any hospital I’ve been at does an ultrasound and bloodwork as routine… I was just at the hospital in Batavia (whatever it’s called) a few months ago. I’m not sure exactly why, but I had a little bit of a flu going on and then had a terrible panic attack and couldn’t calm myself down from it. They gave me an Ultrasound, blood work, and urine sample. Urine showed some slight blood, so they wanted me to follow up with WNY Urology the next day (I’m there all the time generally). The zoo over there had me get a uhm… cystoscopy or whatever it’s called. The had me do that within a few days after being in the hospital. I can’t imagine my reaction if a hospital told me to go home and see someone else.

Glad to hear you’re doing better. Definitely not very fun hopping from doctor to doctor. You get to a point where you actually want a positive diagnosis of something, just so you can finally get on with your life and get treatment/recover etc… I spent most of my high school life in and out of specialists, never getting an answer. Was a PITA for sure. Finally was the NURSE at my doctors office when I turned 19 that took a shot in the dark and got it right. I was pretty happy because I had been seeing kiddy doctors all my life. So I was glad to see “grown up” doctors. (Problems started shortly after my 16th birthday)
