97 jimmy 4x4 i dont want to spend a load of money iwas thinking about just buying the blocks at autozone for the rear and getting the rubber things that u put in the front springs to space them out … dont want to spend no more than like 120 for the whole lift dont want nothing crazy as a lift just something to get me a little off roading fun … thanks …
They are torsion bar fronts, best bet would be a body lift but I wouldn’t recommend it. or you could crank the t-bar up and shackles out back.
The rear is axle over the leaf so blocks wouldn’t work, it would lower it.
i was thinking the t bars but i dont think i would get enough lift to put somewhat ofa aggressive tread on it and i didnt look at the rear i dont ahve the truck yet iwill have it tomarrow didnt know the rear was set up like that but now that i do my only option really is a body lift why wouldnt u recommend it tho ?
you can gain about 1" with the torsion bar but it will ride like a tank. The body lift depending on size, will add some body roll as well as some unwanted stress on the mounting points. You also have to mess with the shift linkage , which can be a pain.

exactly, if it is an older blazer the body bolts will more then likely break and the metal were is sits will eventually break and push thru the floor. if it is not push button the transfer case shifter has to be extended, along with the auto shifter, and the steering column needs to be extended.
I had a 91’ S-10 with 3" body, t-bar crank and add-a-leaf. The body mounts rusted and broke, and it rode like shit but it was fun.
get a body lift if you must have a lift, NO HIGHER than 2" they are not the best but it is only like 100 - 120. It will save you a TON of money in the long run on front end parts. The more you crank on the torsion bars the faster you will kill the front end. Believe me I have been there and done that, wheeling a blazer or any s-series is super expensive after eating ball joints and wheel bearings every other month.
But…
If you must absolutely fuck with the suspension get 2" shackles for the rear and raise the front no more than 1" by cranking the bars. Should be about 4-6 turns each side. Then put a body lift on and you can run a whopping 31" tire.
After the above is done then you can start to enjoy the wonderful world of broken parts, like the sweet 7.5 10 bolt you most likely have and front cv’s and ball joints and wheel bearings and front diffs and cases.
best thing to do is go trade your blazer for an xj you will already be way ahead of the curve.
This is from personal experience, best of luck.
thanks , i would trade the blazer for a xj but got no money and plus im jsut using it as a winter beater it is push button but i am goign to try the t bars and the shackles in the back
I have a 94 blaver with the torsion bars cranked a little more than 1" and its been like that since a week after i bought it and i have 30’s on it.
My front end is still in great shape with no problems. I dont wheel it to often. One thing i suggest is if you do the torsion crank get a wheel allignment right after you are done.
Air bags don’t like body lifts. Be carefull.
im going to go ahead and do the torsionbars up and get the rear shackles now all i need is some cheap 30s or maybe 31s if i can get them on there , and i can do the alighment at school as soon as i get the lift on there …any1 got 4 tires either 31 or 30 for 15s that might fit this dont want to spend alot thinking about going to a junk yard maybe
