ok he did a check of the basement with a meter on the pipes and could find anything and he said he couldnt smell anything which is a little wierd because i deffinitly could 20 mins earlier but i did open the windows in the basment. hes doing a outside check of some sort. so far so goood and thats just what i want. i know the smell of gas and he said gas normally travels upward so idk how it could travel to the kitchen to basment. im just thankfull everything looks good so far. flame away

i feel like an ass for calling and wasting his time but i know what i smelled. i told me mom to go into the basement and didnt tell her about the smell and she said she could smell gas with out me telling her. better me safe than sorry . hes going to be getting a tip from me so he can buy a late night dinner.

Gas leaks can go very bad very quickly. Don’t feel bad about being cautious, you did the right thing, mostly. Next time though, I probably wouldn’t sit in the car that’s parked in the driveway of the building you think may be filling with gas. Go across the street or something. And although I would hope this is obvious, I’ll say it anyway, don’t start the car to drive someplace else.

ya my driveway isnt 1 ft long lol. i wouldnt stay some where that i thought i would be in harms way. yes i agree i shouldnt have got in the car or started it but i wnted to try to save it incase something blew up. yes thats stupid but i took a chance at it. and it was two cars i had to take out. i had my mom stand at the end of the driveway incase anything happened.

Point out to him that your HWT says “Pilot light out.” That is where your gas leak was coming from.
