what’s wrong with the car? not turning on?
62 is a red top ecu, E5 is a black top ecu. What o2 sensor do you have? skinny or fat?
my bad guys I know ur not mind readers but my key board was all mess up from coolant that split on it lol.longstory…but its all good now lol…any ways its a s13 black top (has cooling fins) and once I had everything installed it wouldn’t crank. It did nothing when i put the key in and turned it apart from my oil, battery, and warning light coming on… i have went over the wiring and i get continuity so wiring should be good. after i got the starter repaired it finally cranked over but no spark…
so i went through the fsm and ended up checking the coil packs(have resistance) checked continuity between the harnesses and all is good…now when i checked the ignitor chip it doesn’t have any continuity checked with an analog tester as per fsm as well as digital and no continuity…(some ppl on other forums say it dont matter) so this ignitor maybe the problem but I dont want to order one off line and wait a week(earliest) if its not the problem, also how much do these chips go for around here??
now that you mentioned that the 62 is a redtop ecu dose it have a neg. affect on the blacktop or will it even run??? and the other thing is that im reading alot about this type of issues on other forums and a lot of ppl are convinced that it has something to do with the ecu being fried… (hope its not the case, that’s why I would like to try my ecu out in one of your cars just to rule out that possibility, pls and thnk u ) also my fuel pump wont prime even though it did just before I pulled the ka out… it was an '89 auto ka24e(that is in amassing condition) I have bypassed or tricked the rest of the harness that its in park by using the plug under the relay box, now do I need to wire up the backup lights to get it running??(shouldn’t have to but u guys know best) also when i ground the b/p wire(ecu fuel pump wire) with a test light the pump turns on, dose this point to the ecu being fried?( have read alot of ppl just wire the pump on its own circuit with a switch but I would like it to still act/function as if it were factory like it did with the ka)…also I don’t have an O2 sensor yet,but that shouldn’t stop the motor from cranking over and running, would it??(would run piss rich probably but still run, could be wrong bout that but im trying to locate 1 anyways) also can any one confirm that the 96 q45 ignitor is direct plug and play hope there cheaper then the sr one…
anything else I think of ill post up
thanks for the help guys
p.s. cant wait to hear my little 2L monster roar, anyone that makes it possible may possibly get a reward we will have to wait and c… lol
peace

with the skinny and fat O2 sensor, do they have the same plug/ harness connector???
phil, call me man…
Did this get sorted out?
yes all good now was just an ignitor chip and coils needed replacing …
thanks
