so i have a set of wheels that are 225/40/18 and the street of Queens are killing me but i dont wanna get a high profile tire … but il like to know if 45 profile wheel makes any difference… does a 45 profile protect more the rim and does it smooth the ride more thsn a 40?
Higher profile mean more air between the tread and the wheel.
In other words, yes, higher profile tires will protect your rims more and make for a smoother ride. That said, 40 to 45 isn’t that much of an increase so I don’t know if the difference will be noticeable or not.
I’ll take them for free!

free common sense lesson
Change in wall height won’t protect your rims from curb rash if that is what you mean by “protect.” A wider tire (235/245) may help but really won’t stop you from banging up your rims.
That’s free advice…
Better driving and a tire with a bigger protective lip will cover your rims.
40-45 is a pretty big difference on most sizes, especially when you get to bigger widths.
The aspect ratio is a percentage of the width. So a tire with a 40 series is 40% as tall as it is wide.
That said they will dent the wheel over potholes just as bad. If its big enough to take out a 40 series, you probably wont be save unless you are in a truck.
Just avoid the potholes.
thanks this how they look on my car
