Nope not that kid, this one is Steve(forget his last name at the moment, got me a case of STML). White on Black Gti. He’s over on RSpeed. Nicknamed "Mini Me:…or as Justin and I call him…the Mini’est of Me’s
Not sure what the deal is on the fuel system really, I’m actually not installing it here(car not flashed for it yet). I know the car is a getting proprietary flash from Tony at EPL, who regularly flashes S4’s, 996 Turbos, and other big boost Euro madness…and I’m told he was the one who pushed the fuel system components. Steve is only aiming at ~300whp for the time being which is right at the upper limits of the S3 fuel system. Might try to change his mind, hate to see people buy things twice over…
Turbo kit is ATP, with just a few minor tweaks from me(line fitment and routing, some intake/exhaust fabrication, etc, etc). ATP makes some great stuff, but they always seem to fall of in certain “fitment” areas. It’s like the R&D dept starts out strong, and then get lazy in certain areas. So I just make a few changes so braided lines are not rubbing on plastic parts, or electrical harnesses, or the damn silicone turbo outlet tube ( :nuts ). The FSI kit definitely fits better than the old 1.8T shit they made in the past that’s for sure!!
I’ll have photos in the next couple days here for you to see
oh yea deffinatly, the fsi atp hardware fits great… if this guy only wanted 300whp he coulda just gotten an s3 k04 kit.
oh, is this downstate possibly? i remember reading in someones sig in the fsi forums on vwvortex and his setup is almost exactly what your customer is doing… quinky dink? lol?
He’s right from toga town, about 15 minutes from where I live in Ballston Spa. Cool kid, known him for awhile.
a-men to that :nod I HATED installing ATP 1.8T products, especially their damn cast manifolds. At least on the FSI setup the flange bolts are angled and use a lower wedge collar, so you can actually get a socket straight on the nuts and easily loosen/tighten things down.
But yea ATP is qwirky… For example those nifty billet drain line flanges they make. Here on the FSI setup, you go to tighten down the premade 1" AN fitting to the flange for the turbo drain and the AN fitting hex bottoms out on the flange mount bolts before tightening fully. Got to modify things a bit. It’s stuff like that from them that turns an 8 hour kit install into a 20 hour wrench fest.
Customer says “yady yady ATP kit” and I automatically schedule in a couple contingency days for mishaps :lol
They are nice cars. I rarely work on them, actually only doing this one because it’s been a project on the back burner for a year or so now while he was overseas.
