Need some advice for my V-mount idea

Hey,

Ive searched high and low on every site i can think of, but seeing as most of them are from the southern US.

Im trying to design a V-mount for my S13, since i bought it and am striping it to do all the body work and such, plus swap the motor to S13 blacktop W/t28 for a start. (Please dont flame saying im some kid who has no idea what im doing, becuase im not…really)
i have a question for you guys i need answered before i can start designing the Vmount.

Can i get rid of the clutch fan completly and replace with a good Electro pull thu fan with no ill exects, besides the fan crapping out???

I’ll need all the room i can get to angle the rad back to mount to the intercooler.

Also can someone maybe post a pic of a s13 with a vmount, ive seen a black car on here with one but i cant find it again. And maybe tell me how much room the is between the rad support and the front of the motor? (id check myself but im in NB and my car is at Averageplayers house in Etobicoke)

Thanks for all your input,

Rob

Dont vmount
the car runs like crap and overheats all the time with it.
not worth it.

I thought you were happy with yours?

Hey,

But the thing is did you angle your rad too???

If i knew how to post pics i would show you what i mean, even tho its on an FC, its where i got the idea from. (never posted pics on a forum before, i always read, barely post)

the way i have its planed in my head with all the ducting, with the rad angled backwards, the air for the rad should come from the hole in the bottom of the front bumper where the FMIC would normaly be at. (I know i suck at explaining things, Sorry!). and the intercooler would get its air from a hole cut into the front of the bumper higher up and ducted to the intercooler, then out threw a hole in the hood.

Dont know if that makes sence, but with pics it would make more sense then me trying to explain it.

If someone could say host the pic and post it for me it would make this a little more interesting of a discussion.

Thanks for the replys and keep them coming, maybe if someone could answer the questions in the first post about the rad fan and how much room the is from the rad support to the engine with an SR?

Peace
Rob

the bottom of my rad is where it is stock
the top is at the back on the IC, so yes it is very angled.
and no i dont over heat or anything
i actually cant keep the car warm on the highway.

the fan it tight
get a very low profile one.and the link to the pics is in my sig

there is enough room in the FC to do 3 V-mounts… space is NOT an issue. however if you don’t implement it properly your going to get zero flow not better flow. Implimentation consists of not oly the fabricated V mount but the ingress/egress of air through the IC/rad, the cooling system integrity and the V mount to enigne isolation… to name a few…

With the V mount setup, does any air get around to your engine/manifold or in the engine bay in general?

Hey

dip, i knew you had to be kidding about v mounts sucking. i saw your post on Ziptied, i found it again today. that set-up looks sweet, exect for the IC/rad mounting to the engine, maybe im wrong, im no engineer.

And yes im planning for a thin fan for sure.

and once i get the car ready someday, ill be doing some better planning, was just looking for some imput from people with better knowlege of the car then me, i come from a DSM backround.

So could you tell me how the turbo responce is with the vmount and any pro’s and con’s from your experience??

Thanks alot for the guidence,

Rob
