correct me if i’m wrong, but…
everytime you apply for a credit card your credit scrore drops.
and everytime you get rejected for a credit card, you are eligible for a free credit report… so GET ONE. find out what is on your report that is messing you up. i doubt it’s just age
no no no no no and no some more. The type of card that you want to avoid are specific store cards. They carry the worst terms, and are definatly not the best way to build your credit. If you are in a bind, and get one for the “10% discount” or whatever make sure to pay ot off IMMEDIATLY. I cant stress how bad store cards are to have and carry balances on. Just get a normal credit card. Or, if you want to establish alot of credit fast, take out a home equity line of credit on your house, and get a credit card through that same bank. You will be paying very low interest on the home line of credit, and can use that money toward anyhting that you want. Just build a new kitchen or something stupid. by making mortgage or home equity payments on time, it shows a lot to lenders. then on top of that, you have a card from the same bank that carries a great interest rate and a lot of perks
What it shows on your report is that you applied for a line of credit. Not necessarily a point deduction, but when it comes to getting a big loan like a mortgage, they get nervous if your report has been pulled like 6 times in 1 month for new lines of credit.
