My first CC was a master card. They had a pretty low interest rate when I signed up. I charged about 100$ on my card, then paid it back ASAP so I would some positive credit. :hs:
You have to play the credit game IE
You want credit but credit card companies won;t give you credit unless you have credit but how are you supposed to get credit if no one will give you credit.
In all seriousnes try and get a kaufman’s card or somthing use it every month. It may only be like a 200 hundred limit but its cool. As you get increases your credit will slowly build. Then you will satrt getting more card offers in the mail. Wait till you see somthing with no interest for like the first year.
Again it may only be a 200 limit but its a start. At first due to not having credit you may have a monthly fee and a higher interest rate. Keep playing the credit game until you get what you want or are satisfied with.
What ever you do don;t fill every application out at once. too credit inquirys usually in a 3 moth period hurt your chances. so limit it to about 1-3 applications every 3 months 4 months to be safe. Once you get a card then wait altleast 6 month before applying to another one.
Others my have other opinons but I used to work in real estate and I delt with credit on a day to day baisis (I was a loan coordinator at 19). Me and my wife recintly bought a house form teh same company I used to work for and the loan officer even made a comment that he hasn;t seen such clean credit in his life.
I currently have one visa platnim card that has a high limit and its all me and Jenn need…
Hope that helps.
PS if you can get a helping had as in a co signed that will help but don;t fuck up or the cosigner’s credit gets FUBAR also.
thanx for the help:cool:
Glad you could understand it I had a lot of typos in that beotch
I need sleep
my suggestion, dont get one till you’re a bit older. I mean, i dont know what your financial situation is, but if you’re a broke ass college student like I was, it can be too easy to bite off more than you can chew. If you want to build some credit, get a gas card, and a cell phone in your name will also build credit. Its real easy to get in deep to these fuckers. Its taken me the better part of a year and a half to dig myself out…
im not in college but my financial situation isn’t fantastic but im not broke either im comfortable i guess you could say. i wouldnt just go out and buy stuff with it either like i said id use it for gas and eating out every once and a while not that often. i just want to build a little credit. the gas card isn’t a bad idea though.
Shit with the current prices we are going to have to get a second mortgage to pay for Gas

well, to build credit, you want to keep a balance on the card. I believe its good to keep about 30% of your limit as your balance. Never miss any payments, and you’ll be good.
My first Credit Card was a National City one, they’re really good about giving you one to build ur credit. N the interest rate on it isn’t that high.
man, whatever you do… dont go hogwild modding your car with a credit card. You wont stop until you max it out.

lesson learned the hard way for me! im pretty deep in debt because of that exact situation!
jewelry cards are easy to get also such as kays or shaws
just lie on the credir card application… say you make $80k+ and you can get a card no problem.
my first card was a $2k limit MC when i was 17.
I now have a $20k limit Visa.
i thought about gettin a credit card, but i figured i’d probably max it out and be way in debt. i’m building credit from my cell phone and the loan i took out for my car. that way i’m building credit w/ no ways of going in debt
I suggest a credit card that gives you something back like a gm card or a discover card or skymiles or whatever you think you would use the reward.
The interest rates are higher on these cards but the secret here is to pay it off every month and then you don’t pay interest.
Credit cards are nice for the convenience of being able to mail order stuff and to always have money if you need it in an emergency.
But the trick to credit card ownership is to not spend money that you won’t have by the time the bill shows up, and don’t carry a balance.

I had a citi bank platinum mastercard, $9000 limit. I was 18 and made 5.79/hr. BIG mistake (on thier part).
