Some people will tell you that you should run the laminate floor TO the cabinets because it is a floating floor and that you shouldn’t have the cabinets on top of them. But then , ya know… i guess your fridge, stove, and other appliances should just levitate.
if you’re leaving the cabinets in obviously it makes way more sense/is more practical to just run them to the cabinets and if you can’t get cuts perfect use shoe molding and it will still look great
however, a kitchen we did a while ago had tile done 10ish years ago that was still in great shape. we turned 2 rooms into 1 and doubled the kitchen, obviously this caused a problem with the floor because it was tiled TO the old cabinets and the layout was extremely different and this tile was no longer available. Tile is pretty cheap, but labor is not. We had to re-do the whole entire floor.
Its amazing what laminate can do to freshen up a house. I was going to do tile in my kitchen but did laminate instead. For $540 including padding I covered my kitchen, hall way, dinning room, and bedroom. Laminate was 69 cents a square foot. I have pics of the finished floor but I don’t want to step on his thread and post them.
So i started my upstairs renovations… i thought i had taken before pictures of the hallway, but of course i didn’t so these are the only two pictures i have of the wood paneling FML
Yes these 1x2’s were supporting my ceiling. The ones with 2 nails in them and 6 inches of overhang. Notice the cardboard holding up the insulation at the peak.
Tore it all down, insulation looks newer here, after checking the rest of the roof it looks like my house caught fire at one point… this would explain the new drywall, matching insulation & wiring in the one bedroom and not the other
Recessed lights are made with or without an insulation contact rating (IC or Non IC). Even with, I don’t tightly pack insulation on top. You can also get air tight cans and trim rings. Home Cheapo and Slowe’s stocks em.
Just about done, have some paint to touch up and i need 1 more piece of trim but i think it came out alright for someone who knows nothing about this type of stuff.
