New Brakes, Plastidip SRT8 Jeep

Not a black wheel fan, but it looks nice.

No, I know that. Plastidip isn’t vinyl anyway, it’s usually polyethelene or polyurethane depending on end-usage.

Member on Cherokeesrt8.com hooked me up with some new red Brembo stickers.[/

Stickers = vinyl.

DRR my bad haha. According to others who have used the stickers (with and without spraying a high temp clear like from VHT) they hold up perfectly fine. I put them on when the G2 paint was still a little bit tacky, but not enough to ruin the finish. I have extra stickers should they fail.

you put one or more of the brembo stickers on upside down

JayS should not be allowed to post in black rim threads. lol

Great work all around. Not a huge fan of rim choice but a great overall look nonetheless. Interested in your thoughts on rims coloe once properly refinished.

The original stickers, what was left of some of them weren’t all facing the same way. I decided to put the stickers with the b starting at the bottom of the caliper for all 4 corners to keep it consistent.

I really like it. She either need some drop or larger tires or both.

On yours the black trim looks good, But I just saw a Dark Charcoal colored one today and the chrome trim looks real good on it, if it was black it would just blend in and look blah imo.

I think it’s missing some meatier tires to make it really stand out. It’s not a car.

Looks good.

Lets race.

Looks great but I am a black rim fan. What prep did you use on the rims?

Looks good, nice truck.

Just washed them with some dilluted simple green/dawn mix and warm water. The plastidip sticks to anything.

I definitely want to get a timeslip for it, wanna get a couple more bolt ons before I do tho. Scott won’t leave me alone about tracking it. Just got the damn thing.

Well its not an offroad jeep and the plan is to do 275/40R20 Front - 315/35R20 Rear come summer. Stock tires are 255/45R20 - 285/40R20. I dont wanna mess with lowering it and dealing with bottoming out. She’s already gonna plow snow at stock ride height

From my experience it’s actually easier to paint the calipers mounted to the car just like he did since you can easily shoot all the visible areas with paint. The only PITA is getting to the back of the calipers but who cares b/c no one see’s that.

For future reference… the bottom of the letters faces the inside of the calipers. That’s how all Brembo’s are but I guess your truck is now unique.

I really like the trim but can’t say I’m a fan of the wheels now. Maybe if they were glossy.

The G2 paint kit is brushed on with a foam brush. It was easier to take out the old rusted rotors and pads, put in the new ones and tape everything off as to not mess up the new paint after. It stays tacky for awhile. Although no one else sees it, the backs of the calipers were repainted too.

Good to know, hopefully I’m not painting these calipers again. Do feel like a dope now. :fail:
