ok…well i dont need a new one. it can be used too. i would actually prefer a used.
i am looking for a 4 door on the medium/large side. i have a few in my head now. not looking to spend more than 17-18k. i would like some options like heated mirrors and a sunroof, but dont HAVE to have them. have my eye on:
altima
mazda CX7
accord
malibu
civic
i also found a saturn Aura on craigslist that i really like. it has EVERYTHING. remote starter, heated leather seats and mirrors, 18’’ alloys, power moonroof, wireless bluetooth headsets, 3.6L v6. it got pretty good reviews and the price is right. i just dont know. it also has the extended 100,000 mile warranty too. is saturn making decent cars now? i am also a little worried about the mpg. they said it gets like 28, but i read 23 hwy and 17 city. that scares me because i get like 32 hwy now.
so any input would be helpful. and dont just be like…oh the civic sucks! and not have a reason. thanks!
23 hwy and 17 city in a 3.6 Aura? Only if they’re flooring it redlight to redlight for an entire tank. My mom had a CTS with the 3.6, which is a bigger car, and she used to pull mid 20’s with 80% city driving. Even when i drove it and beat the crap out of it, I never dipped below 20.
That’s an odd collection of cars you’re considering, or more to the point not considering.
You say medium to large 4 door but then include the Civic. You toss in 1 SUV, but don’t add any of the other similar SUV’s, (CR-V, Rav4, Escape… pretty much everyone has an SUV in the CX-7 class).
You threw in a Malibu and Accord, but not a Fusion, 500, Taurus, Camry, Passat, Legacy etc etc.
Maybe narrow down what you’re looking for a little more and try again?
My mom just got a new CR-V and it’s a VERY nice vehicle. Good on gas, tons of room and utility with the seats folded, drives like a car. If it could pull my boat I’d get one for my wife.
well the ones listed are not the only ones i would consider. those are the ones i have looked at so far. not a huge fan of the charger or 300. i have driven those. i do like the fusion, rav 4, crv etc. but i was just kind of making an open ended discussion and maybe i could gather some info. i am leaning towards the altima. i saw a pretty decent 08 S yesterday in the paper. i prob would not buy before june unless the price is too good to pass up.
but again, options might win out. even if i have to go with an older car. i also saw an 04 lexus es. but im not too sure i want to go that old. i would rather not have anything older than an 07.
has anyone bought a used car recently? what kind of rate am i looking at? i know new ones do the 0%, but i think that is more of a marketing thing most of the time. the numbers dont necessarily work out in the end.
all i have had is GM so far and i have been very happy with them. BUT the resale is killer. they kind of hit a wall around 4 or 5 years old. any thoughts on that? should i go with an import like honda and maintain a little more resale? or go with a domestic with more options?
i bought my Acura TL in december and am EXTREMELY happy with it… in your price range too, and has a shit load of options… but its an 05… i know ur lookin for something 07 08 09… granted i wanted somethin newer as well, i was test driving other cars as 2008, but fell in love with the TL and didn’t care that it was a 2005
if you buy a domestic already used then someone else already took most of the hit on resale. You also get a lot more car for your money. The domestic resale issue is mainly if you’re buying new.
yeh, i like those too. my cousin has one. anyone have a fusion? i was just looking at those online. i like how they look, but im not a huge ford fan. it seems like decent car if you get the upper end packages.
So you’re requirements are 4 wheels and a motor for $17-18k? Beyond that it’s whatever appeals to you the most?
You’re like a salesman’s wet dream.
I bet you’d be happy as a clam with a loaded up VW. Seriously. I’m not criticizing you, VW’s are a really good way to get a ton of features for not a lot of dough.
EDIT: And don’t listen to what anyone on this board says about late model VW reliability. It’s all anecdotal evidence from their mother’s sister’s dog’s kennel’s owner’s nephew’s neighbor. Or just plain old forum parroting: squawkVW’sAreBadsquawk
thats what i figured. i mean, honestly, im not too picky. i just want something i like. is it worth waiting till the 2010s start rolling out? or should i do it before then?
I have driven every model fusion and my mom has a brand new base model 5spd that is about a month old. I don’t know if you missed the really good sale or if it’s still going. The fusion is an awesome car it really is. Just get the appearance package and you will be a lot happier.
^did he get an early release edition…jk they came out in 06
The reviews on fusion have been nothing but GREAT!
