Honestly? You have an automatic 2.2, right? Don’t bother. Leave the car as is, take the damn wing off, and have a slow (but clean) daily driver.
I mean, I guess you could do a manual swap…might speed you up a little… but all that work to have a car full of flex that’s about as slow as my turd of a car seems pretty fruitless.
Keep your Sunbird. If you really like the platform, buy an old Z24.
well, if you want to go with the ecotec or a v6 i would say the ecotec, but why run and ecotec when you can put a W41 or LGO into your car. You can pick up a brand new W41 from mantapart.com for 3 grand, plus since your car is already OBDI it would be a perfect swap. Or you could swap the eco then turbo it, or even an older LD9 and turbo that. You could go with alot of things in your sunbird if you really want to. But i dont think a convertable is the best car for modding. but all in all if you really have your heart set on this swap i would go with one of the 4 cylinders i listed above.

$3000 to have a stock 4cylinder in your $1000 car (well, $1004 if you count the wing)…
for $3000, you can get a fully assembled 4G63 shortblock that can handle 700+hp…

i think he wanted around 3500, but needs a new tranny. you can prob get one for around 600, and change the gears back to stock for gas mileage
