they should put the 6.2 in a ranger haha
You really have no fucking clue who you’re talking to.
It is not even worth getting into it with you about how much you don’t know, but I’ll tell you this… I probably have the most (if not close) powerful diesel truck on the forum, built by me, broke by me, and I have a a pretty decent awareness of all things diesel…
Had you thought about what I wrote for 2 seconds you could have comprehended what I wrote (including the lols and smilies) but instead you thought you would state a lame hp vs tq cliche and then try to tell me about something torque. GTFO.
Somebody else that gets it!!! Yay! Horsepower = (Torque x RPM)/5252. So, in the case of a diesel that makes decent torque at a very low RPM, you end up with a small numerator in the equation which results in a low horsepower number. This is why I want to scream when some jackass starts running their mouth that their gasser truck makes more “power” than my diesel. Technically, yes, it does make more “power,” but let’s chain the two together and see what happens .
Jack - From Dodge, my Cummins was rated at 215 horse. They rated the engine at this level so the average Joe-Blow would get a long service life and not kill the drivetrain of the truck. The 5.9 Cummins could be had from the factory with horsepower ratings of 425+, usually for marine applications. Furthermore, the ONLY aftermarket parts on my truck are the exhaust and the clutch. Neither of which really increase power. The exhaust helps with the EGT and the stock clutch would just slip under the load. I’ve accomplished my power gains simply by modifying and tuning the stock fuel delivery system. Mechanical injection FTW. Right now it makes 38 psi on the stock longblock and stock turbo (with almost a quarter of a million miles on them) and I’ve broke the dually’s loose (posi) in 4th gear while towing. We can chain your Ford to my truck if you want…
Anyway. Since I’m on the topic of boost, how much longer until all factory production engines come with forced induction? It really seems to be heading that way…
Southtowns vs Jack Pull off!!
My money is on Jack
I’ve always wondered why this hasn’t already happened. Even a small 1L turbo 4 cylinder in a cobalt would be pretty sweet. Get ~40mpg with ~150hp.
Didn’t you own a VW?
So your saying only fucking transports put out?
The truck that can get better traction will win? :gotme:
I probably have you beat on power…400-425whp conservatively. Probably more like 450+, but in the real (non-dyno) world, it’d drain the fuel rails on a longer run:)
But your truck is still fuckin’ sweet and I agree with what ya posted!
Your 12v cummins does not make 400 hp. It makes 215 hp. I had an 03 dodge w/ the 5.9 cummins 24v…I had a smarty tuner on it too which cranked the power up a TON. Stock my truck came with 305 hp, and with the tuner on it I would still get walked by a new duramax (365hp)
So stop being such a Diesel inflator (guys who own diesel pickups and claim they get 25mpg and 500hp or some shit)
Yeah, Diesel>>>Gas motors, but it’s going to take a lot more than just a straight pipe on your 12v cummins to get 400 hp.
Ford Mod motors are the biggest pieces of shit ever to come out of Ford. Next to the Pinto.
Ask me how I know…
Cam phasers that fuck off an sent my timing out 45 degrees? yup… Do I need new vavles and shit? yup…
Fuck you Ford.
Yes you still need to take the cab off to change the spark plugs. Which is why Ford claims the plugs are good for 250,000km…I’m at 240,000km and going on my 5th set of plugs.
Fuck you Ford.
SHHHHHH don’t be letting the cat out!!!
Fords new line ups are impressive tho
I’m selling an extra pair of underwear since I see you wet yourself over my sarcastic comment.
I’ve owned 4 mod motor Mustangs and haven’t had any reliability issues to date. Every brand has their lemons.
Although I’m not a big domestic fan, I’d definitely rock a turbocharged V6 pickup in a heartbeat.
A used 6.2l Raptor is in my future.
My truck is not stock. The fuel delivery system has been heavily modified.
- Srsly? You’re posting the formula for calculating horsepower? hahah. OMG… I learned something new today!!! That hasn’t been on this forum 10x before!?!
Little bit of a reality check for you bud… you’re truck isn’t making shit for power with the stock turbo, I don’t care how much fuel/heat/timing you’re adding. Just because I’m a Ford guy, doesn’t mean I don’t know my Cummins and Duramax motors. Breaking duallys loose in 4th gear while towing means your trailer was not loaded properly (neg tongue weight) or you were on ice. I’ll call you out on that right now. You can play with your fuel plate and your timing all you want if you can’t add air to clean up the fuel you’re just blowing smoke. Kind of like in this thread. I’m also aware of Cummins motors making different power in different applications. A marine motor is designed for a different powerband and a completely different scenario. I’m also making 40ish PSI with a stock long block. My gauge only goes to 35 and it pegs off idle. I have monster injectors, way too big for my stock turbo, I know what a lot of fuel feels like, but I also know you need air to clean them up.
lol.
I’ve seen Cummins trucks lose to 4cyl S-10s. That same S-10 beat 2 Powerstrokes, but I got him with my V-10 (and 2k lbs in the bed, lol)
True… I forget how many trucks are on here… but I might have you in the TQ dept. Might.
Hahaha… I was hoping someone else could see through the “smoke”.
And your turbo side is stock, as well as the intake? I can’t believe you’re going to make the argument that because your truck blows a lot of smoke and you somehow managed to break your tires loose in 4th gear while towing, that your truck is some magical Cummins powerhouse and nobody else has the recipe you have for making power.
“My Diesels bigger than your Diesel…!” :gay:
I want to see the ecoboost end up in a ranger, that would be bad ass.
I love ford. I will stay loyal forever
i love the ford 5.4 got one with 500000kms and one with 350000 still going strong
