There is a guy on the nat board… making the t-case out of billet… cause 500+ AWHP/TQ breaks them immediately.
Should be about 1k-1200 bucks shipped. Anyone here think they could do something similar? Maybe not the t-case, but other parts that break… but are usually replaced with stock… then replaced again.
Stock is 3lbs, this one is 9… and 12 lbs were removed from the block of aluminum.
Nice piece is that thing in progress to be ready to ship out? Is That the same one from 3si? A watched a couple videos of the design process on that one. Definitely cool shit.
thats the one… Ray Pampena (800+ AWHP) is going to be the tester. he breaks a lot of TCs… if this holds, it will be worth its weight in gold, and ray will be deep in the 9s
Uh, wanna explain? It certainly looks machined from a single block to me. You can even see the cutting marks. Plus forging and casting are 2 different things as far as I know, and I don’t see how one could forge something hollow like that either. Not saying that you’re wrong, it’s just that as far as my knowledge goes you are. I must be missing something?
this was CNC’d from a single block of aluminum. a couple guys have kicked around the idea of casting… but if that route was chosen, you’d have to sell a bunch of them to turn profit cause of the hours involved. also with casting… you still have to clean it up… which takes man hours on every piece.
I’ll keep you posted… opefully the internals can hold up to the abuse… we think it was fatigue on the case that lead to stripped grears… this hunk of hottness should solve the mystery.
I am very surprised that this is the approach they are going towards. I would think they would have gone more towards the way Shep has improved the DSM TC, extending the splines down the output shaft as well as a revamped driveshaft.
