New Project, 57 Chevy Inside (56k GTFO)

Not done yet?

Keep going. Get that thing soda blasted!

blah blah…i have only had about 3-4 hours with the car since my last update…i got a shit load accomplished. The body wont be soda blasted for a while yet…going to focus ont he chassis, get that done while the body is stored in another garage, then swap them out and work on the body…it sucks having a 1.5 car garage, with the .5 part being work bench.

edit: plus i’m scared to get the body blasted…lol, may not have anything left of the floor when i get it back lol.

Sheet metal is available. Get it blasted and do it right.

welll duuuuh…someone isn’t reading. I am def. getting it blasted, and def. replacing/repairing everything that needs to be done.

Love history lesson’s. Good Luck:tup:

just a little update…i got the entire dash and everything behind it gutted. no surprises today, so that’s good.

this will definitely keep you busy for a while.

Fucking Awesome! I have been in love with those cars since I wa s 7 or 8.

Masking tape, baggies and Sharpies are you best friend.

Can’t wait to see it done.

good progress already

yah i know…alot of the stuff is getting replaced…and just about everything has had mix match nuts, bolts and screws…so that method wont work well. Just making notes, and lists, and taking shit loads of pictures.

Well, its been a little while since my last update. Mostly because I was on vacation for a week visiting my sister in Texas. Since I’ve gotten back, I haven’t had a whole lot of time to work on the car, but I got a few things done.

Finally got the windshield and trim out. Steering wheel and column are out, steering box is unbolted but not out (fighting me).
The exhaust and rad strap is out in preparation for the engine removal (this weekend i hope). Then, All i have left is the gas tank, rear shocks and body bolts and its ready to be separated!

In the midst of all this, i did a little paint stripping. The blaster told me I could save a few hundred by stripping the outside of the body myself…so that’s exactly what I am doing. Its not too bad. Coming off nicely. Looks like the body WAS originally black…and the roof white?? who knows. who cares at this point lol.

Steering wheel/column removed…

rad strap removed

a little bit of old rocker repair revealed…

as it sits now…most of the rear quarter is stripped. Found a healthy ding near the top of the fin…can easily be fixed…but someone filled it in with body filler.

The Ding

Careful of Lead. Looks like a fun project.

classic big block, also + karma for a sweet car.

Nice car. Still got the classic column shift.

For the love of GOD, KEEP THE FOUR SPEED!

:wstupid: :biglaugh:

Overdrive is nice for zee driving

Could be a show winner if done right

Thanks!
no column shift. its a 3 speed manual…hence the hurst shifter in the floor. Not sure what i am doing just yet as far as the trans.

powerglide FTW

get a 454 man.

i think i know where I am going with the motor…no big block, too much of a pain. firewall mods, header issues etc…i have enough on my plate. thinking a 400 small block punched out.
