glad to see this thing is coming along, i had started to think you forgot about it lol
Where do you stand now for parts needed to start assembling the motor?
*i may be your guy if your having the assembly work done at crc
dont need any parts to finish the motor, just need to put the head on the block and the motor in the car…
I think all we need a head gasket and oil pan gasket IRC.
What are we doing for the transmission? The motor hangs in the car off that of course, so without ready to go, its not going to be easy to stay up there on 2 of the 3 mounting spots.
Ryan, lets sit down tonight and get a game plan for this thing so we can efficiently work on it now that most of the major parts are here for the most part.
Me and you have to talk about our options Mike… At this point Im likely going to save the shep tranny for next year as I really wanted/want to drive the car this year.
I hear you. Then lets just build it with what you have on hand and tune it safely. No need to set world records with it, just enjoy the car when its done.
Plan for the next 2 weeks or so is to get the AWD stuff installed and get the big picture stuff out of the way.
its in the crc section as well but i thought id keep the progress of the car all on here in case future members wanna follow.
Mike got the car in over the weekend and got alot of work done with the awd swap… Need a bunch of new parts due to rusted ones on the doner car but shouldnt be too bad.
dropped my head and my jmf race intake manifold off so it can be reunited the the bottom end and ready to drop in.
also just bought a turbo finally as the car should actually be done soon… Went with an hta86 from forced performance… Turbo has great reviews, but id avoid buying from forced performance themselved ever again… Because my order was over $1,000 I had to fill out an entire peice of paper with all of my information and fax it to them… After I faxed it they told me that wasnt enough now they need a copy of my drivers license AND credit card faxed over as well… Did that too and told them I wanted the turbo shipped to my store instead of my house and yet again another problem lol… They told me I needed to now send them a picture of a business card with the address on it stating that i own the shop or work there… not sure how a business card shows ownership so i took a pic of my business card and a bill at the stores address so i didnt have to make a fourth trip… Bunch of BS but hopefully the end result will be good.
I would have propped the requested documents up on my ball-sac, photographed it and then sent that in to them. Or I would have called 88slomarro to come pose with your business card pressed between his udders.
lolol
finally hurr
decided to bring this thread back to life as i kinda let it die due to mike wood putting all the updates in the CRC stuff instead of here… im sure hell update this thread with more technical info soon, but heres the quick run down.
Car was wrapped up a few weeks ago… AWD swap was 100% completed and is now functioning, fully built bottom end and fully built top end were united and in the car, turbo set up installed, roll cage fabricated, powdercoated and installed by mike along with a custom removable door bar kit so i dont have to jump over bars when getting in and out of the car while street driving. Mike got the car fired up soundingg like a monster, but would NOT idle or stay running… Because the car has been under the knife for over a yr i really just wanted to drive it so my original plan was to tow it to someone close who could tune the car halfway decent on pump gas and later on, drive it or tow it to a dsm specialist (decided on turbotrix) for an e85 race tune… Towed the car to synapse for morgan to tune… Morgan looked over the car and found shit that needed attention, (loose bolts, belts that needed to be replaced, timing cover put back on ext) and advised to have him fix it to keep the date of the tune… BC i am impulsive and really wanted the car finished I let synapse do the work so i could get the car running and on the rd instead of towing it to mike wood who wud do it for free as he was already paid…
$1,200 later morgan started the tune and the car wouldnt run right… i was advised to skip pump gas and go straight to e85… Nick P had some e98 laying around that he hooked me up with and morgan grabbed the rest from the lower content e85 laying around local pumps right now and mixed it togeather for a perfect e85 mixture… CAR still wouldnt run right… Called injector company and come to ffind out the injectors i was running were discontinued and was told straight from the manufacturer that they suck lol… ordered new injectors and the car ran a million times better… Morgan got the car on the dyno, super exited… and the car runs out of fuel pump at only 400whp… morgan was going to st tune the car the next day but found more small shit wrong with the car and at this point i decided to just tow it back to mike wood to finish the small shit i needed to do for free instead of paying an arm and a leg…
Pretty upset that i paid $1,200 from synapse, had to buy new injectors when the ones i bought a yr ago were brand new and couldnt be used, the car running out of fuel pump and it very difficult to do a dual pumpper set up in my car and the fact that i totally forgot that i was only running a single disc clutch I was thinking i was just going to fix the small shit and run the car at 400whp and just drive it…
After kicking that around for a few i thought to myself “you stupid fuck, you spent more money then any sane man would on a fucking dsm, if you fucking stop at a power level that is attainable from a large turbo, bigger injectors and a 255 fuel pump on a bone stock motor, your a fucking idiot!!” …looked through my list of reciepts i have for the car, well over $30,000 and decided, fuck it, go big or go home…
16 gallon plastic fuel cell for e85? ORDERED! fuel lab 1500whp fuel pump? ORDERED! ACT twin disc clutch good for 1000+whp? ORDERED!
Within the week, the stock fuel tank will be ditched, new 16 gallon fuel cell will be installed in trunk along with the monster fuel pump, fuel feed lines will be increased to -10 from -6, new fuel filters installed and the twin disc installed, making the car ready to make big numbers.

That’s where your exhaust is?! Holy shit that’s going to be loud :rofl
yeah brotha, no fucks given right hurr lol… going to be taking guesses on how many exhaust tickets ill be getting this season, cast your vote! lol
how are you going to get the car inspected? what ecu/ tuning do you have?
prolly gonna buy a cheap running $1,000 eclipse and plug it while scanning the reg to this car… ecm link
Can’t wait to see this animal haha.
Jesus, I would have at least tried to dump it out the right side of the car a bit. I don’t think really f-ing loud is going to describe it on the street once you start to drive it :rofl
Looks good though. DSM’s are a big love/hate relationship
Yeah ground pounder will be a understatement…
Things more like a hovercraft.
looks good and i bet it moves quick. esp if its a street car.
post vids driving it if you have access to cameras.
Why would it be quicker if it was a street car?
