New Rx-7, Toyota/Subaru RWD cancelled, Silvia project cancelled

Yeah, Mazda is pushing out a new Rx-7, while Toyota/Subaru have put their RWD on hold, and Nissan cancelling the Silvia project.

Rx-7
-16x rotary pushing 270-290 NA hp with 20% more fuel efficiency. Lighter because it’s now made out of aluminum

  • Manual or dual clutch transmission
  • Major weight cutting. Aiming for a ridiculously insane 2.64k lbs

Awesome! High revving rotary with insane output. I want! This KILLS the F22C in NA displacement.

Dude, … this was posted yesterday.

Nissan and Toyota are giving up??? That means they have nothing better to compete with Hunday. Mazda will be much more expensive, more in 350Z area. If Koreans make smart move and sell Genesis typeR for low enough price, it will kill the competition and make their name much more respected in this business.

The Type-R is listed at 23K USD, so that’s quite respectable, and is optioned exactly how an enthusiast would want it. I know when I looked at the option sheet I was like “Wow, that’s the exact option list I wanted.” like, not close to it, or a decent compromise, but bang on. The only thing that might be nice would be Cruise, 'cause I do long haul roadtrips on a regular basis, but I’ve lived without it this far, I can continue on just fine. And I love that it still comes with the good stereo. Smart move, IMO, and I’m sure it can probably be optioned off for a reduction on the tag.

to be honest I don’t care about the stereo and and all that crap because next year there will be probably a better one for half price available and I’ll change steering wheel and many other shit before warranty expire anyway. Another option I would like is to be able to buy this car cheaper with winter tires on steelies.

Oh I’d totally consider optioning off the stereo, I’d wanna put my own aftermarket GPS system in anyway, so who cares… Wheel, I might keep factory if it’s decent, but if not I’d have a new Nardi Personal on there in a matter of minutes after delivery. I saw a pic of one that still had the plastic wrap on the pedals and signal light levers etc, with a brand new Momo wheel on it lol…

I’d prefer to get the car on 18s tbh, 'cause I’d probably be winter driving it and 18s would be marginally cheaper to get winters for, plus I’d wanna rock aftermarket rims anyway.

they should make a stripped down version like the evo mr so u can the good engine without the extra fluff. def gonna buy one when i get a steady career going again, hyundai gennis ftw. but i wonder why they when with the mcphersion for the coupe when they could jusy taken the ganster gensis sedan double wishbone

^ you’ll have your genesis, I’ll have a GTR

i will never buy a hyundia ever in my life i hate it with a passion,it may just be the name hyundia i dont like how it sounds, but yeah i think the genisis is a knock off of the g35 i also hate the smart car with a passion i feel like its a waste of metal.

hahaha buddy back when i had my apprenticship i was going to get my nsx then i got laid another in another 2 years u’ll see what i’ll have lol, i’ll be back on my feet again.

hahah as far as that gensis goes u can’t beat the specs, even though it a hyundai i’d def buy it. times are changing

it is still a new car only time will tell on the quality of the genisis.

rex_thugs and bra…

its hyundai… like sunday, not hyundia
and genesis… not genisis, or gensis

thats all

^^^^^^ lmao that cracked me up

lol

is it just me or does the rx-8/rx-9 look like a riced out 98 camaro?

wow just read that article lol a mordern car that weight’s only 2640lbs wow hmm that shit would sound sexy with a MONSTER bridgeport brap! lol rotary love

honestly, if it looks like that, ill slap the engineer behind the design

I thought the Toyota/Subaru was just delayed not canceled?

^Same thing more or less… Typical of auto manufacturers. They’ll toss it on a dusty shelf for a while, and when the economy picks back up they’ll pick up where they left off… With Hyundai making waves like they are, they can’t afford to completely can the project, they’d be foolish not to respond. Anyone who denys this is a sorely needed and very profitable sector of auto sales is blind.

I would say 50% of the people on here are in a position, or will be in the next year or so, to buy one of these. And most of us would if it lives up to the hype. But by the same token, if Toyota or Nissan returned fire properly, most of us, myself included, would be heading to those dealerships.
