Installed Lovells 20mm drop springs front and rear last week. I wasn’t looking for a big drop, basically to just keep the ride height of my collapsed stock springs while fixing the poor performance of those collapsed springs.
The car handles so much better now and I’m happy with the stance. In quick transitions the car is much more planted and when I’m hard on the gas/brakes I’m getting no where near as much squat and dive.
Are those the winter rims? How many miles on the goat now? Looks good, I always thought the drops had a differnt front and rear values like front 2" and rear 2.5"?
THAT. SITS. PERFECTLY. How are the Lovells compared to the Pedders? I remembered that the Pedders stuff was pretty expensive and the best part was on the GTO boards, the Aussie guys said how much Pedders sucked.
I’m a huge fan of the Lovells stuff and you can’t find a better guy to buy from than Andy over at Kollar Racing. A lot of people on ls1gto.com are starting to turn against Pedders saying their shit doesn’t last any better than stock. I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews on the Lovells stuff Andy sells. I’m hoping by spring they have adjustable swaybars. If not I’m going to go with the hotchkis set.
I do have to add that the springs have made the car a bit less forgiving. Stock it was the easiest car I’ve ever owned to hang the ass out sideways because it broke loose really slowly letting you get way loose and still hold it. Now it holds its line longer, cornering much harder but when it lets go it’s much more abrupt. Personally I like it more this way (I’m an ex-Fiero guy, snap oversteer is in my blood) but I could see someone getting in trouble with it now.
Oh, and it’s got 39k on it. I’ve averaged about 6k a year since I got it, and yes, it’s my DD. Short commute FTW!
I honestly felt that the only reason why so many people bought the Pedders suspension stuff was that there weren’t too many options for the 04-06 GTO. I remember a few other options but they were pretty pricey Ohlin coilovers and some other one I’m forgetting. I too thought that a stock GTO was a VERY easy car to hang the ass end out without it ending badly.
Are you drifting on ramps or something? lol How are you pushing the car so hard in the corners on the street that you are able to find the let go point?
