I was just reading that netflix had to pull all Sony Entertainment titles from those you can stream to the xbox.

wonder how putting the games on your HDD will work for the modded people. should make it a tad easier i would suppose. Rent/Borrow the real deal, save to HDD, return that and insert your “backup” to the keep the system happy.
^ The disk still has to be in the drive to play the game from the hard drive. So you’re still running the same ban risk with the modded DVD drive.
The big question is how long before someone figures out a way to remove that requirement that the disk be present.
Thats how the origional xbox modding worked, and it was awesome.

Yeah, I was really surprised to see MS add this functionality to be honest. Having the core xbox OS not support reading games from the hard drive meant it was a pointless endeavor for hackers to try to get that working. MS has done a pretty good job on the 360 locking down the core OS (minus some early consoles where you could downgrade the kernel).
Now that they’ve opened up that functionality I’m guessing you’ll see the hacked firmware developers start digging through the logs to see what kind of challenge/response the OS is sending the dvd drive to see if the disk is there. Find a way to fake that response and bingo, no need for the disks at all once they’re loaded to the HD. No doubt MS spent some serious development time trying to make this impossible but they still have to rely on that insecure 3rd party DVD drive firmware.
can you just put one in the enclosure?
or do you have to use a external hdd with the usb cable…
there is a hack somewhere to do it yourself.
i wonder how much would actually have to be done to swap it out yourself with a bigger HD

its pretty sweet, i only spent a few minutes on it before school, but from what i saw i liked it
Went home on lunch to check it out and I’m really impressed. Netflix linking took 10 seconds. NXE gives you a code, you go to netflix.com and enter it and that’s it.
Watching CSI streaming in HD and it looks flawless. Took about 10 seconds to buffer and has no stuttered once yet. 10 meg download with TW so your results may vary.

If i want to watch CSI or any other movie/tv show…do i have to pay for each individual video? How does it work?
