I ordered an item from Newegg (as I do all the time) and normally when it ships from Edison New Jersey, I have it the next day… Well with the holiday, its been a few extra days (whatever) but I just tracked the route that its taking and, well… WTF???
Normally when I order something it goes straight to me, but since they used DHL for this, its taking a nice scenic trip across the northeast…
Thats the thing, I order something today, I get it tomorrow. Its fast, and simple. I don’t know why they decided to go on an unnecessary road trip with my package.
I disagree a bit with your order, only because I work in shipping/receiving!
FedEx > UPS > DHL > USPS (use as last resort especially if you are in a hurry and don’t want to spend a fortune, their overnight charges are insane.)
FedEx is more precise on when you will get the package. UPS is better pricing overall but the window of delivery varies a lot, mostly because they have the most business which makes it more difficult to be as accurate when your delivery will happen.
Screw Fed ex. To many times did the people i buy stuff from ask for delivery conf and being that i work a day job I am not around to sign for it, and they wont just take a note on the door stating please leave it, heres my sig. I called on a few packages to see if it needed a signature and they said it didnt on the phone, and I get home and see a door tag.
Twice I asked for the package to go to the depo so i can pick it up becasue it needed a signature, and they put a hold on it to have it go back to the depo… i got home todoor tags. i called back said hold my shit like i asked. i go there and guess what it was on a truck out for delivery! do their computers run off dial up or something?
Have the packages sent to you work, problem solved. Business addresses have priority over residential simply because hours are limited. I ALWAYS have my packages sent to work.
Yeah but I dont think that NYS offices would like my GT3067R, motor internals and all the other millions of parts i get being delivered to my cube! lol
You think they would care that much? I would just tell your boss its expensive parts and you don’t them just left outside unattended at your house, he/she doesn’t have to know it NEEDS to be signed for!
I’m starting to ship more and more to my office as well. My secretary doesn’t care, although she’s tried to sign off on a few of my recent PO’s thinking those were the items we ordered lol.
My parents are just sick of seeing the UPS man on an almost daily basis lol. Plus I get my stuff via UPS/FedEx at 10am instead of 3pm if I ship to my office and not work. I typically send non-urgent/cool stuff home and stuff I can’t wait to see to my office lol.
When I order cigars I always make sure they are shipping UPS or Fedex, I want them delivered to me the day after I order them cause otherwise they will dry out. USPS and DHL always seem to take 3 business days to deliver me things from NE PA for some ridiculous reason while the others have them at my door the morning after ordering.
