I’ve lurked around these forums for a good while now without really posting much. I’ve been seeing some pretty nice cars around lately and figured some of you might be on here. I picked up a 2001 Audi TT a few weeks ago and I know there’s a few other Audi owners around here. So, without further ado… pictures!
The TT is bone stock and will stay that way until I can’t bear it anymore… which I don’t think is going to be very long.
When I’m at home (Rochester) I’m usually working on my dad’s Formula Mazda:
I have more pictures of the FM if anyone is interested.
So if you see the red TT or an Explorer towing around the FM, throw me a wave! I’m in between Buff and Rochester a lot so you might see me in either city.
The FM is an absolute blast. I’ve wanted to learn more about cars for ages so when my dad finally started getting back into it it gave me the opportunity to work on some. I’ve learned a ton just working on that Formula! I’m going to need the knowledge when the TT inevitably stops working ;).
Here’s some more pictures:
I have pictures of various things we’ve done with the car as well, we’re pretty good about documenting everything…
We’ll have it at the Watkins Glen “fun run” this weekend - anybody around here going to be there?
That TT looks beuatiful, my favorite color. I love that they came with 6 speeds and K04s. I thought I convinced myself to go WRX after my A4, but your TT reminds me of why I like them, it looks awesome. Working on them sucks compared to a WRX or even my B5 though.
The mazda looks like a blast, that has to be insanely fun to drive.
Hah! It’s funny that you say that because I toyed with the idea of a WRX for about 2 years and ended up with the TT. At the end of the day, I’m just happier getting into it. It may not be as fast as a WRX but it’s plenty fast for a DD, it’s comfy, and the interior is awesome. There are a lot of things that are a PITA to work on with the TT’s but yeah… oh well. It’s hard to make practical decisions when it comes to cars. And thanks, I think it looks nice too!
The Mazda is a blast to drive, even though I only get to drive it from impound back to our spot! One of these days I’ll run it for real though, if only at an autocross.
We ran regionals this year, though we didn’t make it to every track day. We got to Nelson Ledges once and the Glen 3 times and my dad did his driver’s school at Summit Point.
I’m surprised you’ve seen me in Rochester! It’s been many months of me not leaving the house due to working on the FM…
