Took the alternator apart this weekend and started polishing it. That’s a pain. Ugh.
Also brought in all my remaining motor parts and cleaned them in the parts washer. The motor is going to be CLEAN.
That’s about all I did on the car this weekend. Machine work should be done this week.
I was going to start on brake lines on Friday, but just couldn’t get motivated to do it. IDK why I am dreading doing it so much…
is this thing done yet…
seriously, i’ll check back next may… maybe then there will be some burnout pictures available.

So i needed to do something about my alternator…
Before (reference pic, mine was actually MORE beat)
After a bunch of hours of sanding, painting and polishing. Again, not super baller or anything, but way better than it was.

Wow, that looks like it was a lot of pain the ass work, haha.
^ def. Looks good though. Should be nice along with the fuel rail, master cyl etc.

Are you staying with the e30 steering rack…?

Well i started the skyline it came out of and the charge light was not on… :fingerscrossed:
did you consider swapping racks for a better ration rack? seems like it would be worth it while the motor is out.

The thought crossed my mind, but I don’t have PS, so i don’t want a really close ratio rack…
The rack in the e30 kinda sucks.
People claim swapping to an e36 rack gets rid of some of the numbness and gives better feedback

e36 rack is a waste of time IMO. The only rack I would swap to would be Z3 and then it would have to have power.

I started making the brake lines tonight. It’s actually pretty easy and I am excited to finish.
Last time I did brake lines i was using a double flare on mild lines and it was a cock to do the flares. I borrowed a really nice 37 degree flaring tool from work and it works great, even on the stainless. The bender I have works pretty well too.
Turns out the old mounting points for the stock fittings are the exact size required for -4AN bulkhead fittings. Win.

Finished the rear brake line last night. Also added a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve right next to the driver’s seat.
Nice location for quick changes but that had to make for a bit more routing/making lines to the MC, unless that is next to your seat also. Also, get Brick Top back as your avatar.

It’s just a pressure regulator. All it does is pinch down on the rear, so you just install it in the rear line. Doesn’t route back, simple in and out.
