Let me try to clear up a big misconception between 2 & 3 speed’s, both trannie’s have the same final or top gear-1 to 1, the difference is the is the 3 spd’s have a 2.48 or 2.52 1st gr, 1.50 ish 2nd gr, a great setup for cars in the 10-12 sec range as u still have enough gr to get a 3500lb car out of the hole, & 3 diff grs keeps the motor in it’s powerband.
A 2 spd has 1.76 or 1.82 1st, & goes straight to high gr-1 to 1. When u get above 800 hp w/a small tired street car, u don’t need alot of gearing.
I was thinking the powerglide plus the gear vendors O/D… but I think the main advantage would be the OD between low and high… which would keep the motor in its powerband without losing much RPM.
Then of course OD for the highway… but he isn’t using this tranny on the street, so he doesn’t need it.
I know the 10.5in cars are straight up drag cars, but I was just making the point about how surprising it is what teams can do with so little, years ago no one would’ve tried to hook 2000hp on 10.5in slicks.
And wouldn’t 10/90 shocks and maybe a drag 4 link make sense for turbos car? That is a serious question, not being a dick.
