my 91 digi jetta has always seem to lack the power that it should have. whenever i first start up the car each day, ill let it warm up for a few and then start driving every time i shift it will hesitate and jerk like 5 or 6 times and the continue accelerating. Now occasionally ill be at a stop, go to give it gas and there will be no response other than a slight growl from the intake. Even if i put it to the floor nothing for a few seconds then it will start to rev up. but it will be very sluggish for about 30seconds and then run normal…
your running rich, when you first start a car up that hasent been driven in a few hours or so it runs rich and has a slightly higher idle to warm the car up…
my car jerks too when i first fire it up and try to drive it within secs.
let the car warm up a little more then you’ll be fine
any idea why it decides to not respond whenever i push the gas sometimes, this happens even when its plenty warm, i drove 30mins from monroville to my place so it wasnt cold by ne means and it left me hangin at the stop sign at the end of my street. :repost:
my altima just got back from the shop for a intake gasket leak. It idled like crap, but ran good off idle.
Does your car have a cam position sensor ar a crank position sensor. I remember my sho acting similar to yours and the cam sensor fixed the problem. Are there any codes stored in the computer?
my 89 civic did that, but never found the problem. I changed the fuel filter and nothing so prob not that. But good luck finding the problem. Good suggestions from the guys too.
today was one of those days where i just stood looking under my hood at my briggs & straton type powerplant. I for the first time noticed strange looking piece of rubber stickin out from the back of the engine. I grabbed ahold of it and pulled it off, it revealed a small metal pipe that connected to my exhaust manifold. once the rubber was off it blew straight smoke out. I didnt have time to really look into what its purpose was cuz i had scheduled plans for 2nite, but im just guessing its part of an EGR system that was eliminated. Seeing that i couldnt pass emissions to save my soul. but its just an idea, ill look into it more after work 2morrow. just figured id mention it before i take a closer look. Anybody know off the top of their heads what im talkin about?
