driving tonight…all of a sudden car goes haywire. rpm’s start jumping around under throttle while in gear (not with clutch engaged or in neutral), but progressively getting lower. car was shuddering and misfiring. it does this sometimes when i start the car in the cold, but once it warms up, it’s fine. i had been driving for about 15 minutes when this happened tonight. car definitely wasn’t cold. it’s a 91 mk 2 jetta 1.8 8V digi. could this be an oil pump problem? i know i don’t always hold the best oil pressure, but a slight rev boosts the pressure and (temporarily) fixes the problem. i just went outside and started it now though and it was fine. any advice would be great. thanks in advance.
is this ken? if so, i believe this is your old car.
yea, a couple other things have happened that lead to some bad sensors. i’ll take a look at those. thanks.
i’ll ask mike, but i haven’t had a chance to talk to him in the last few days. notate location.
i would, but “VTEC YO” has already been taken for a license plate. where’s the fun in that?
i believe the fuel pumps were recently replace right before i bought it?
it still runs. it just needs to run better. it sat for about 6 hours friday night, then i drove it home from hamburg. ran flawlessly on the way home.
i hope to god it’s not a ground. i’m real hungry and could use a bagel. but i will check anyway and if it is, i’ll buy you a bagel at timmy ho’s after i do an ABA swap.
does seem to be the trend. it will be ABA or W8. one or the other. lol
sorry for the ridiculous amount of quoting, but i’m on dial up and this was the fastest way for me to respond to you all.
You should have brought them over to my house and we could have had a great time. Or I could have gotten a bike or skateboard and we could have ripped the park. Either way shame on you for not stopping by.
haha yeah i just hate when ppl ask me" hey you! can you do some tricks for us?" and then 5 min later i saw that they were hiding behind a porta shitter watching me ride haha - next time ill stop by for shure
edit: maybe i should have told them that that was my BMW in the parking lot across the street… jail bait
on topic: i owe jj a bagel. car wouldn’t start this morning at all. the fan support for the radiator was rusted out. the cable on the battery had been bouncing off the fan (which was moving around since the support was broken) and was grounding itself out. i fixed it this morning. thanks all for the help.
