I was supposed to be there too for my first ever auto-x but I ended up missing it for work…
I have a lot of fun in my truck. I have decided not to be a pussy and not only fabricate my new rear anti roll bar mounts so I can put it on, but also attend the last one on the 22nd. I am addicted to autocross for sure lol. I felt that cone go under me too, I should have paid attention. I cant believe you have a 6 speed in your car. That is really cool.
Oh BTW, for all those who attended my name is JAKE PFAB, not LUKE PFAB. For some reason they misread what I had wrote down. Thanks again for all the pics whitey, it makes me really happy to see some action shots of the truck.
I was there and i was teched then some asshole noticed my inspection expired February…of 2002, so I i couldn’t run it but i did get second in HS in my buddies hatch.
sweet that was you, they are CRAZY about inspection at NP, steel cities isn’t like that being SCCA but NP is a car club that has to also adhear to some other rules as well. (cars need to be inspection legal even if trailered) because the are in a public access park. sorry for your luck wiht that but good to see you come out.
btw i had the G6
Your were going batshit in that car. It was entertaining to say the least to watch. Yeah I was excited to go but got shit on. I think i will trailer it there next time and take the stickers off like everybody else what a bunch of shit. I just got the sway bar on and it was feeling good, need some real wheels and tires tho, but other then that it feels solid.
Ah ok that was your 1st gen, yea I was parked like 2-3 spaces down from you. Yea like Kurt said since its a public park everything there has to be “road legal”. They have got shit in the past for it so thats why they are hard on everyone to be inspected. Granted alot of the stuff that shows up on trailers have 06 stickers and you know sure as hell they arn’t legal lol. But as long as your stickers show your ok they won’t question anything else aside from the usual (loose items, wheels torqued, etc). If they were questioning your window stickers I can’t help you there. But if its the sticker on your plate, you can pull a Cheeks and swap the plate off your tow vehicle hehe.
FYI Steel Cities SCCA runs at beaver this weekend, you don’t need any stickers to run there.
Taking the stickers off isn’t going to help you at all if the car has a PA plate on it. The only cars from PA that do not need to have inspection stickers on them are ones with antique plates (none required by the state for antiques).
And don’t take it personally. Honestly, people in the club have no idea who you are or what condition your car is in but the rule holds true for EVERYONE that shows up. We’ve had people who have been club members for decades who have showed up with expired stickers and have not been allowed to run those vehicles. The official ruling is that since we have our events on County owned property, they call the shots and they have decided that all cars must be street legal, registered, inspected and insured. It’s not the decision of the club but since we want to continue using the parking lot we have to honor the request of the county.
Get your car inspected and bring it back out to the park for the last event.
I will come back in about 28 years when I have an antique plate. Nah justkiddin who knows of a friendly inspector that would pass a catless, emissionful car? If so I would love to come back I had a good time and usually do (in the 83 GTi) but I was just heated over finally taking out my 1g and being so close but not making it.
mark drove it too and did the same thing it wasn’t just me, i ran a 33.4 in the evo later on. 36.6 in the g6 was my best
why can’t they start at like noon? If they weren’t so early I would definitely enter. But its just to early, and somewhat confusing. The shit talking is hilarious too! I was standing by a group of guys and every car that came up they would have something to say about it. and then listening to them complain about classing… seems like its just to big of a hassle, but definitely seems fun!
they only have the lot till 5, running usually 5 runs (6 heats) byu the end you’re looking at 4:00 to 4:30. the event starts around 11, you just have to be registered by 9:30 and teched by 10.
what’s confusing? you show up, pay 20 bux and sign a form before 9, have them look at your car by 10, and race
Yea Kurt pretty much covered it, it sucks but what are ya gonna do. But yea long as you show by 9:30, get teched in by 10, walk around the course a few times, they do a drivers meeting and then your off. This page explains a little of their daily schedule, cost, etc. http://www.nhscc.com/fees.htm
The last date at North park for the year is Oct 22nd for anyone wondering.
I know this weekend on saturday beaverun is having one of their open autocrosses from like 10-4 for like 35 bucks. You can show up whenever and you usually get a ton of runs in. There is another one on the 15th of this month also, same deal. And for the record any autox event at beaverun for SCCA or just beaver themselves your car doesn’t need to be inspected! The weather is suppose to be decent so I should be up there.
well that makes sense about the time part. did not know they only got the lot for a certain amount of time. the confusing part to me is the classification for the car. It may not be confusing, but it is intimidating to a person that has never participated before.
basically put it this way whitey…
(in your case)
you’re in SM.
All you have to do is tell the people at the trailer that you dont know what class you should be in and they will help you out. Plus, everyone there is really friendly and will help you out anytime you need it.
Agreed. The best way to start out many conversations at an autocross is “Hi, I’m new. Can you help me?” There’s always a couple of dicks that won’t but the majority of people will go out of their way to help you or point you towards somebody who can.
i plan on comin back out here soon. i am tempted to run the SS just once, but i’ll probly just bring the WS6
I hope to make it out next season in the boat.
I was there. Anyone see me spectating on the other side, towards the pool house? I was with a black '06 Saleen (Some of you may have seen me drive by in it), a Silver 06 BMW M6, and my Jeep was right next to the M6.
Was only there from 3:00 on out, saw most of the previously mentioned cars in the thread.
yeah i saw you guys, both cars were stunning, next time race
