NYS DMV Expedite titles?

Someone bought my car, registered it, and then backed out on the deal (long fucking story involving a motorcycle and cash as well).

I need my title back.

Since he had already registered the car, I have to wait for the DMV to process the title, which takes forever here. Unlike other states, where you can just do it immediately right at the fucking DMV.

I asked the guy to try and expedite the title, he said he called the DMV multiple times to no avail.

Is it even possible to expedite the title for a transfer? I’ve only done it when replacing a title.

did he already transfer the title to his name when registering or was he gonna reg it with the title in your name?

Yes. Call the title services number (keep trying if it’s busy) and ask to expedite it.

UGGGG. Paperwork clusterfuck. They expedite for a fee if it’s a reprint I know. I don’t think you can have them expedite on what amounts to a new title though.
Once registered I’d probably have let it go…carfox won’t like this much. :wink:
