figured starting a new one without the other bs (torrents/previews/ect and such) to discuss the game/help each other out if we get stuck/lost and the such or to just talk about the game

I slaughtered some innocent person in a side quest since I wanted to get 1000 gold instead of turning him in, I slept at a roadside inn and the dark brotherhood wanted me to join, the initiation was to kill some defenseless old guy. They are basically a guild for the wicked, and you get special items from them as well as missions. Just thought I would share

oh, and who is running an ATi card? are you using bloom or HDR lighting?
on that note… anyone who’s using “bloom” lighting… are you having problems with spells/oblivion gates while running AAx2?
I think it’s an ATi glitch… because the game runs great with 2XAA, until I hit an oblivion portal or someone uses a spell and then the frame rates drop to unplayable levels. I guess it’s a non-issue with Nvidia cards (or so I read)

you have anti-aliasing turned on? strange… even people running maxed out systems seem to be having problems with the ATi cards and using the AA function.
and you cant turn on HDR lighting most likely because your card doesnt support pixel shader 3.0 (I think)
what drivers are you running?
I am having that problem, run smooth but then an enemy transforms and instant lag for 30 seconds, I just turned aa off and it works fine(I never turned off bloom)

set bUseRefractionShader to 0 in the oblivion.ini file (My documents\My Games\Oblivion).
should be able to jam it with AA enabled while keeping the game from DIAF
(as always… back it up first)
I had the same problem today. I installed it and started playing, and it would run fine. But the moment the king started fighting with the bodygaurds at the start, the framerate just plummeted. The moment the fight was over it was fine. I’m gonna try disabling AA when I play again later tonight and see if it does the trick. And I think I’m using bloom lighting but I’m not sure.

Seems to work now. I still keep on randomly crashing to desktop and I have no idea why. Latest time it happened I was exiting weynon house and I just crashed. Anyone have this happen to them as well?
guess alot of people are having random desktop crashes. game is very buggy… hopefully they’ll release a patch soon.
a few snapshots I took (started the game over) found a neat way to emulate HDR lighting with bloom
question for ya’s… anyone know where the ring of night vision is? I had it in my old game, but forgot where I picked it up from. it was great because you could use any weapon while still being able to see in the dark.
anyone have it?
I tried that trick but sadly it didnt work for me. I had to disable AA to stop the frame lag when I got near an oblivion gate. I also updated the drivers (had no idea it was so long since I updated) and that also seemed to help the frames a little bit. I’m loving this game so far
