NYSpeed Should Be...

#2

on another forum i go to they have a “new members section” after you make 3 posts that make sense or waiting a week or so you are then allowed to respond to everything posted, this way they get rid of the people who only sign up to start shit, or the people who sign up to just sell their car…

Well put, Joe (it is Joe, right?). I appreciate your honesty and you definitely made an attempt to see things from our perspective and that is all I am really asking for with all that is going on.

To be honest, this is a car forum. It should BE a car forum. If there’s a small OT section, so be it. But still it should be about cars 90% of the time.

I understand PsychoS10’s (old school there, Brandon) point as well about asking certain ?'s. Personally I don’t care what someone knows/doesn’t know. If they have a ? and I know the answer, I give it. There is no reason to make someone look dumb. I’ve yet to find anyone on this board (or the other one) that knows it all. Help each other out. That’s what a car forum is about, that’s why I joined UBRF like 4 years ago. I have many ?'s scatterred about here, and I’ve answered many throughout as well. It’s a car forum!

Another thing, I think the mods do a fine job. I mean, I’m only on 2 forums, this and UBRF. I use them sparingly, but I like them for what they are. The people that made/pay for them set the rules, and LET us use it. I mean, jesus christ, it’s not that hard to not get banned. I’ve never been banned from either. It’s not hard, all you got to do is follow the rules. Hell, you can even bend them.

And lastly…get the fucking sand out of your vaginas! Don’t make big issues out of dumb little stuff. It’s just the internet! Ok, bye bye (Lil’ Jon to Oprah/Chappelle show sign off)!

#2. NYSPEED works for me. When I need help, I ask a question. The questions have always been answered. Automotive topics should be the bulk material, but given the diversity, many members have much more to offer. This indicates a successful forum.

#2 is good. General Automotive is usually home to broad realm of car related topics, such as “check out the veryon” or “new N/A dyno king” etc. Which is great, I love being informed of new automotive things. Additionally, I don’t go to any other forum that has a general off topic section in it, so if I need a laugh, or want to talk about sports, or want to insult someone I don’t really like, I like NYSpeed’s OT for that purpose. I try and stay off aim lately because it kills my productivitity, and occasionally browsing the new topics at nyspeed keeps me sane during long shifts.

that being said though, I know if I have a specific question about a technical aspect of any car I own or owned, I’ll much more likely find the answer on a forum specific to that car. I would expect a broader range of answers to a question about an evo or mr2 on one of those specific boards ( www.evolutionm.net , www.mr2oc.com ). I wouldn’t expect Jay to post here asking specific questions about an FD, when he may just call xander or hit up rx7club. On the contrary though, I have posted questions here that I already knew the answer to in an attempt to spark technical conversation during a few lulls in the past. There were some surprising results and answers.

In conclusion I think NYSpeed is good as it is, with a decent automotive section, and a decent place to relax in.

I will admit to say though that I enjoyed the forum more in the first 4 months than I do now

This thread makes me warm and fuzzy.
