Hey guys. I need to replace my O2 sensor. I just wanted to knwo if I need a special tool to remove it and where I can get this tool. Thanks.
I believe it’s a 20mm or 22mm socket.
There are special 02 sensor removal sockets but I think you can get away
with just a boxed end wrench.
Run the car, heat it up a bit, turn engine off and try removing it then.

ah im going to be pulling mine out soon to check it, would channel lock pliars work if i open them up all the way, would i have enough clearance around that area ? i know its near the firewall somewhere on the manifold
Oh I forgot to post. I did it with a boxed end wrench like Gonad said. It was pretty easy. The only thing I couldn’t do is tighten the new O2 sensor much because the heat shield got in the way. For some reason, it seems as though the new O2 sensor goes deeper into the mani or something. I hope it’ll hold lol. Thanks for the help Gonad.
Would you believe I only hand tightened my O2 sensor? :shock:
No leaks or anything and it worked fine.
You only have to have it so tight. Then again it wasnt a permanent thing
for me as I’ve since removed the manifold and exhaust/turbo systems
after driving around for maybe 3 weeks or so.
