Obama Fo life / the 22nd amendment is worthless

Has anyone heard about this yet. I guess they want to remove the 22nd admendment, which says a president can only be in term for two years. Wtf

Once they remove one, they will remove them all

Did you even read it? They have been trying to do this for the past 20 years, not just recently. It would never pass either.

meh will never happen

Term of office is currently 4 years. Wish it was 2.

yes and no, It’s hard enough to tell which president is to credit for the good ant the bad stuff that happens as it is.

Seems like they are constantly running for election anyways. 2 years would be terrible.

Do you mean in term twice, for 8 years?

i actually think this should be amended to state that if a dude can run again, after the regular max, and beat out his own party’s contenders and then the other party’s contenders by a specifically higher margin then they clearly have the support of their party and the country as a whole and should be allowed to continue to do thier work.

i think we just live in such a polarized era that we havent seen an election landslide the likes of Reagan’s. If some dude comes in with 80% approval ratings and is pulling 400+ electoral votes in 2 consecutive elections you might as well not even have a third election and let him go until his approval rating drops or something… it would save hundreds of millions of dollars and man-hours and bar-fights.

Sorry bing but I totally disagree

What if this dude is draining the country of its money and the 80% comes from the poor while the 20% bust their ass.

Where headed in tha direction. At some point it’s going to be worthless to work.

I mean free this free that and permanent vacation.
Don’t get me wrong. I like helping the needy
But not the lazy

My personal opinion is it should be changed to only allow for a single 6 year term. At least who ever is the leader can focus on being a leader and not getting reelected.

80% of the country is not poor. If a guy is helping 80% of the country he deserves to be re elected.

I agree. If the leader is liked by a massive percentage of the people, then let him lead.

Elections have become pointless rituals. It should take Americans about another 50 years to wake up to this.

Give it some time. The middle class will be no more

This could have merit. As it is we currently have a president for two years, then a half president half candidate for 2.

This whole thing is supposed to be civil service, not a career. Not a life long dream that causes you to cry in public when you gain the power and prestige you’ve always dreamed of. In my eyes the desire to serve more than two terms shows that a candidate is unqualified.

Campaigning itself was considered taboo when we started this whole concept of a modern republic. It showed political ambition, and political ambition was understood to be incompatible with the fundamentals of self governance. If you’re in it for yourself you’re not suited to govern.

rabble rabble rabble guns rabble rabble socialism rabble rabble rabble

Someone could rig the approval ratings system to stay in power forever.

I can see the Faux News headlines already. “KING OBAMA - DICTATOR OF THE UNITED STATES”

If the citizens want someone in office, then why shouldn’t that person be given the chance to continue running? FDR was the only president that served more than 2 terms and he was one of the best presidents this country has ever seen. If someone isn’t doing their job, they will be elected out in at most 4 years. I guess it just seems stupid when you can potentially have an administration doing an amazing job, and not be able to continue it because of the 22nd amendment.

FDR sucked. He set the country up for bankruptcy and started a long tradition of not letting that silly constitution keep him from doing what he thought was right. Seriously. The supreme court kept striking down his new deals as unconstitutional so he tried to add more judges to swing it his way. Congress had to pass a law limiting the number of judges on the supreme court. The best thing he did in office was have a brain hemmorage.
