i meant back in the day. certain rights were granted for white, male, property owners; in the end the people that had the ability to make a lot of money. This was the case in other countries that revolted against a monarchy like France. Or the establishment of other nations like the unification of Germany, Italy in the 1800’s. The ruling class still needed to keep the commoners in their place, and the industrial revolution helped do so.
As you know, and I don’t need to tell you (this is for the general forum), but economics and the economy of various countries isn’t so cut and dry. There is more to it than just say becoming capitalist, socialist, mercantilist, etc. There are people who are looked out for and people who aren’t even considered in most economies.
The idea about the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer has been around for centuries. It started with nobles and serfs. The nobles didn’t pay taxes, and the serfs, later peasants paid a majority of their “income” on taxes. The nobles gained more land and land rights, and the peasants have always been fucked city.
