“This just shows how in touch he is with the people of America, especially those that might be from less-privileged backgrounds and are looking for the ‘easy money,’ so to speak,” said Herbert Davis, a spokesperson for the Georgia Lottery. Davis continues, “This will no doubt be a great step in the betterment of society as we know it. The lottery is a fun and relaxing way to legally gamble, all without having to worry about the hassles of things like a bookie or actually having to pay someone back if your bets don’t turn out the way you planned.”
Under the proposed plan, any citizen that filed taxes can receive up to $500 in lottery tickets as part of their return, with the remaining issued in the more traditional form as a check or direct deposit. “We didn’t want to issue the entire return in the form of lottery tickets as we wanted to make sure that more important things like rent and food were taken care of as well,” Obama said.
Obama says he plans to try and push the bill through the house within his first month of presidency so citizens have the chance to “make it rich” early on in his candidacy, so others “…have the chance to live and be blessed like I have been as a United States Senator.”
