haha, ron paul had a great response to this. Hes got a god point, the application deadline was on february 1st, which means Obama would have only been in office 12 days. What could he have possibly accomplished in 12 days that made him deserve this award? I also lost all respect for the nobel prize once Al Gore won it so i can say im not too surprised.

To prempt: I am am no fan of Bush, he was an asshat and is reponsible for BHO being president. With that out of the way I offer the following.
Is it the job of the US president to be popular in other countries? What has BHO’s popularity got us? IF his overtures to Iran end up with a series of events where they stop deveoping nuclear warheads and we don’t have to attack them to accomplish this, then the Nobel committee should give him the prize and retire it. But so far, these overtures have resulted in nothing tangible. If his weakening our defenses by cancelling the bases in the Czech Republic and Poland to appease the Russians help substantially by getting them on the same page as us in pursuit of stopping Iranian weapons development, that would be a diplomatic coup. And so on. But so far, he has no done nothing tangible in the areas of peacemaking and many Americans feel he has made the US less secure. After all, the job of the President is to make the US secure, not pursue peace at any price.
Peace can sometimes be worse than war anyway.
