As far as “peace” prize, he has argued against most military conflicts since Vietnam. He believes in military defense but is critical of most US involvement/engagement in recent history.
Except he’s increasing our involvement in Afghanistan… yes, not “his war”, but there have been no pledges about leaving Afghanistan like there have been for Iraq.
Honestly, I wonder if this will just piss off folks like Kim/Khameni/Ahmadinejad, who will just think Obama will never bomb us if we go through with making a nuke; or Putin for that matter, whose help he needs to keep Iran in line.
Other than the change of rhetoric what has really changed in our foreign policy? We are still in Iraq and Afghanistan with no real plan to leave and we are still imposing the same sanctions on “terror states”. I’m very optimistic about what Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress can accomplish. I just don’t see what the president has done based on his actions to deserve the Nobel. :gotme:

Perhaps Obama won because he kept Palin from being a geriatric heartbeat away from the Presidency. We would have mavericked our way into world war 3 with her foreign policy knowledge.
So February 1st was the cutoff date for Nobel Prize nominees. So basically his whirlwind peace keeping efforts in his 11 days as a President obviously got him the award. Considering that for almost 2 years previous he was soliciting support to become president.
Almost as rewarding as this trophy to this guy
I’m all for Obama getting the Nobel Prize, but maybe let him actually accomplish a bit more and base it on more than 11 days as a president.
