regardless of who’s idea it is i like it. the program is all about helping each other and protecting your own soil if a fight came here not going to war. We’d really need to get all the details about such a program though for things like compensation durring these hiatuses(sp?) but if they pay you to do jury duty i wouldn’t be surprised if they paid you for this as well.
as for the notion of a draft it was never physically stated as a draft. but seriously we’re drafted to do things we don’t want to do on many different levels all the time for our government, our place of employment or for our families. the word draft just isn’t used and isnt used here either. so stop reading into things so much. not everything is a conspiracy.
edit… i also agree with stroked quit being a fear monger.
Not a terrible idea, there is a big difference between a draft and civilian service. Teaching average joe’s tactics is one thing, drafting them is another.
Exactly. How about instead of being assholes all the “Republicans” should get their shit together and fix the party. Take for instance, if anyone thinks Sarah Palin is the future of America or the future of the Republican party, they have a severe disconnect with reality.
IIRC if you’re employed full-time your employer must pay you your days wage as well.
I didnt say Obama said anything about mandatory service. You just keep putting words into my post. All you know how to do is scream “fear mongering! burn him!”
There is obviously no longer any intelligent conversation here. Just people charging others with things they didn’t post when you can easily go back a page and read the truth.
And this is why America has become what it is today. Have a nice life guys! Good Luck! You are going to need it in a few years. You may not know what I am talking about now, but I assure you that you will.
“When you choose to serve – whether it’s your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood – you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That’s why it’s called the American dream.”
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
