my uncle gave me a pos ford ranger and its a 97 w/ check engine light on… the only code it gave was aux emissions control malfunction or efficiency … something like that im a dumbass and didnt write down the exact # of the code. i imagine it needs a tune up plugs/wires anyway but there were no misfire codes. truck definately lacks some power any suggestions?
when you stopped by the other when i was outside this thing smelled like bubble gum haha. it deff seems to run bad. maybe its the catilic converter
yea but there were no o2 or catalyst codes saying the cat is bad
could be the EGR
thats a easy one to figure out ,unf when a code pops on the early fords it stops runnin secondairy monitors so ya dont know good luck

wow slowmarrow actually trying to help? thanks man. the scanmer said all the systems were ready if thats what you mean… Also is there a way to check the egr? hold it open manually and the car should stall right?
