I dont have a problem passing

Hey I have a question for you.

On a 2.2 eco cav with a supercharger, it is having problems with a low efficent cat code. The piping is at 2.5 or 3 inch already. IF my buddy would take out the cat and replace it with a bigger longer cat would that help it out and give it more time to clean up the emissions?

The computer was already reflashed when the kit was installed up at RSM.

why 3" exhaust on a cavi?

runninbg high boost on a stage two vortech…

I think its 3 thats why I listed 2.5 to 3 wasn’t sure. really doesn’t matter main question is about the cat.

Keep it under 5K and you’re exempt!

are long as your check engin light isent on or your under 5k your good

gut cat, replace shell around pipe… tune computer to shut off downstream o2’s

voila no CEL

Mil eliminators

its not my car,

its my buddy and its way over 5000 for this year plus it is a brand new car (2004 bought with 6 miles on it) so the first year you must have it inspected and can’t get it exempt (that came from 3 inspection stations.)

As for gutting and tuning he would like to keep it legal with out gutting and how the hell would you tune a car to shut off the second )2 sensor. Wouldn;t that throw codes or come up on the new ODBII testing…

um…properly done it shound’t have any problems passing

it was done buy a shop last february and went he got home about 2 months later it started throwing a code. I told him I think they have too small of a cat on there. :dunno:

no not you the original question

but to answer your question mike any sized cat should be enough to show a difference in 02 from pre to post cat…my guess is it’s throwing an “outside of value” crap code which means it’s too high or low for the ecu, did you try changing the sensor?

As in just replacing the sensor with a new one? No I don’t think he has tried that yet.

Thats for the 2.4, i cant seem to find one for the 2.2, i guess they dont make them. but that would probably the best option.
