Capitalism is not about making policy. Or at least it didn’t used to be. The whole point of capitalism, is to have privately run, for profit business. Well, that’s what I thought?
What is this “job creator” thing? If you want to make more money, you need to have people making money for you. One person needs more hands and minds to make money for them. That’s not “creating jobs” that’s making more money. No problem with that, but lets call it like it is. It’s not like rich people or “innovators” are out there saying "Hey, lets bless a person with $65,000 this year and a mediocre 401k plan. They think to themselves “Can $65k invested in this person, make me $200k” Nobody is out there just making work for works sake. Nobody invests trying to break even.
The current administration is NOT moving us in the direction that these protesters would like. Otherwise they wouldn’t be protesting. Most extreme left people have a real distaste for Obama. He kept taxes low for the ultra-rich in the last go-round. He is STILL in Iraq and Afghanistan, he did nothing with Guantanamo, they’ve had enough of him.
Most people are smart enough to not advocate for the total end of capitalism. I think people are mostly fed up with the ways that preferential treatment is given to corporations over individuals because they wield the money. In the end these protests will be looked at as groups of young people, upset with current conditions, with no defined goal.
What do they really want? To be recognized in society. This is what has been going on since the dawn of time.
I agree. There is always going to rich and poor in this country and there will always be rich making money off of the poor in this country no matter what administration is in power. Young people of every generation have always protested either due to going to college an be awakened for the first time or unhappy with their status in society.
The problem with the government structure is it’s dominated by lawyers. Where are the scientists, engineers, researchers, etc?
