This might be a stupid question, but perhaps someone who does emissions can answer this for me. If you go from a ODB2 to ODB1 swap how do they test you for emissions? Just wondering since I’ve heard of a couple of people going this way and I would think the fun police would look down on this.
They wouldn’t test it. Just fail it.
you fail!
That’s what I thought, just checking my facts before I :owned: someone…
Sucks to be this kid who drops all kinds of money and now is SOL.
could you use the obdII computer with one of those jumper harnesses?
Keep the mileage low so it’s exempt.
I did an obd1 swap in mine.
The harnesses work the other way. obdII motor w/ obd1 ecu.
This probably doesn’t help but…If it is OBD2 then you can cut the signal wire that hooks up to the emissions machine. The machine will read “can not communicate” and the have to pass you on emissions, but only for one year! Call any shop to verify. I don’t know how easy your obd1 -> obd2 conversion would be for a day…good luck
If I get shit for my obd1 motor in my obdII hatch, im going to knock the fucking maching over.
aaaaahahahhahahah
The test if done by year of the body, It would not fail, theres a part of the test that ask you if the connector can be accessed, answer no, no available and it bypasses the test and a sticker can be issued, however there are ways around the new style test, the state is letting alot of things go till the end of this year…
