the “excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom good sir” look (she laps the coffee table nudges my leg, then sits and stares at me until I get up then darts for the door lol)
Been busy with work, beer drinking and doom metal. I recently added another doggy to my family.
Thor is approximately 5 years old and he’s a Great Dane. He was found wandering around Niagara Falls and taken to the Niagara SPCA. He was very skinny and malnourished, and it seems most likely he was abused. Our friend with 3 Great Dane’s fostered him for a bit, but she’s at the end of her pregnancy and couldn’t keep him. Originally the Shelter thought he had Wobblers, but after visiting the vet, the diagnosis was a lot worse. The vet determined that he has Degenerative Myelopathy, which will eventually leave him paralyzed within 6 months maybe a year. We are currently forever fostering him, basically providing a loving home until he has to be put down. He’s a very good boy, but he is terrified of everything. He’s still afraid of me after almost a month.
My parents just picked up this guy after going months of saying they will never get another dog again because of wanting freedom to go or do what ever. Yeah, that didn’t take them too long.
This is Murphy the Golden Retriever at 8 weeks old.
I would say keep working with him. I’m assuming he isn’t neutered yet? Also they have lots of energy for a while, at least for the first year to two years. Is he getting exercised daily? My wife and I get together with a bunch of fellow great dane owners, there is a group on facebook for meetups, tips with them etc. Our one friend has 3 of them, all raised from puppies, one of which is deaf. They are all trained on the eColler.
