I went to the Columbus game. Half the arena were Buffalo fans.
Too bad the Sabres never showed up…
Nationwide Arena is pretty fucking cool though. It’s surprising how old HSBC feels compared to a newer arena. They need a new jumbo tron though. Their whole arena district is pretty cool. Decent amount of sports bars to hang out at. Columbus as a city is really nice as well. We were only there for a night so we didn’t get to look around much.
If anyone is thinking about road tripping for a future Sabres game, Columbus is a pretty good destination. Only 4.5 hours too, doing slightly over the speed limit.
Maybe someone has been working on the search index then. Last time I tried to find it the only hit I could get was the 08/09 thread. Searching for Sabres, Sabre, Buffalo, Vanek etc.
The Sabres wrapped up the Northeast title on Tuesday night with a 5-2 victory over New York, a game that dealt the Rangers’ playoff hopes a severe blow. Rookie callup Tyler Ennis had a goal and set up two others as the Sabres officially eliminated Ottawa and assured themselves of no worse than the third seed in the East.
Playoff Miller has emerged from the depths. Hopefully we’ll have a healthy lineup going into the playoffs next week. If not I don’t mind Ennis and Gerbe sticking around.
LOL Mair has had a decent year, and is a 4th liner where Ennis would be pretty useless. If anything it will be stafford who sits, apart from last night he has been terrible since the Olympics.
Decent year? In 66 games he’s had 6 goals, 7 assists, a minus two with 71 penalty minutes, many of those penalties being stupid retaliations when the Sabres were down by a goal in the 3rd period.
He has 2 game winning goals, and only gets 10 minutes a game on the 4th line. You act like he is always on the ice and is some giant liability which he isn’t, but hey you have been whining and complaining about him and Ruff for 4 years now. If you are going to bitch about players who take terrible penalties late in games you need to look at out captain Rivet.
While Mair may not be the strongest or smartest player on the team, he’s a grinder and plays physical. Ellis is one of my favorite players on the team and he has 3 goals, 12 points and is -1. Yet, Ellis is IMO one of the only consistent players on the team, and actually has his legs moving at all times. It’s not always about points…Gaustad is a -6 but has helped the team numerous times, in fights, goaltender screening, and faceoffs. All of those are unofficial assists
