I think at this point it’s probably too late in the season (we risk getting into bad weather) and we’d really need about a month at least to promote it in order to get enough people to show up. We’re probably better off aiming for next spring.
But maybe it’s worth mentioning to him that I initially contacted management in March via phone & email, physically went to the track in May, sent several more emails and now the whole summer has gone by without them giving me a quote. I’ve had a few responses from the track but they always seemed confused.
One example of the confusion was that I was told they couldn’t give me a quote because they hadn’t put the price and contact form on their website yet. Why would I need a contact form when I’m already in contact with you? Can’t you just tell me the price since I’m standing here in your office? Eventually this did get on their website: http://speedway.lancasternationalspeedway.com/track-rentals/ - but they already had all of this info and more. Hell, they even asked for the price that we previously paid for the track / food package and I literally scanned and emailed them one of our old contracts with Ralph.
It’s also possible they just didn’t want to do what we were asking to do. They could have simply said so.
You guys know I’ve negotiated with the Toronto Indy, Watkins Glen, Dunnville, TMP and other tracks in the past so it’s not like I’m new to this. But I can’t have a conversation with myself.
You could have just done this at Chapel Hill without all the aggravation and bull shit, and it actually would have happened.
Were they really busy enough this season to not feel the need to respond? Perhaps.
fuck that sucks, was really looking forward to something like this
what about renting the track at empire one day?
Because Oynx and everyone is against do something that would actually get a large group of people actively involved in an event…Instead they would rather do drifting that would involve a small number of people
I would love an Empire rental day.
THIS ^
Aaaaaand again:
Empire is $100 per car not including track prep. If you can get at least 10 people who are willing to pay $100 for 5 hours of track time, as opposed to the $15 for test & tune then we’ll front the money and set it up.

We were in contact at the beginning of summer. He called me and I called him but he never called me back. I didn’t push hard to make contact again because it was about the time Lancaster did respond.
You keep saying its $100 a car its not…We have done track rentals before and its significantly less.
They throw those numbers out because a lot of people rent the track for 2-5 car tuning sessions if you were able to confirm 30 or 40 people the price is a lot less.
Yeah, 30 or 40 people. The last time I called them for pricing (years ago) we had only 20 people interested. They wouldn’t budge on the price.
maybe we should have a Saturday / sunday BBQ / car show at a regular old park and then an optional cruise up to NYI for a test and tune night? even if you don’t run.
letchworth is relatively close to nyi and between here and roch :gotme:
I know I was planning on heading up to nyi sometime towards the end of the season. even if we wanted to wait till the first few weeks of October, the weather is usually still good and the foliage will be breathtaking #nohomo
That’s a feasible idea, cooler temps are on the way. Looks like they open at 9:30am on Sundays? http://www.empiredragway.com/-2015-saturday--sunday-schedule.html
Be aware of any dates marked 1/8th mile because you won’t be getting 1/4 mile times
I don’t know how you guys had so much trouble when “buffalo dips” is sponsoring a track day at Lancaster not on a Wednesday that will have drifting and drag racing lol
We wanted to do something a bit different than a drifting & drag setup. And we wanted unlimited food & drink packages again.
In all likelihood the problem is communication. I gave them our plans which included a small amount of time for a drifting exhibition by experienced / semi-professional drivers. Then in a response that came months later they had misconstrued this into meaning that we wanted to hold an amateur drift day only. I had to respond again with our plans and explain that was NOT what we wanted to do.
Anything in the works for this year.
