Official: Beer thread

I had a few 312 Urban Wheat ales last night and they were pretty good

Stella Artiois im hooked on

Picked up a case of Arrogant Bastard for $20, and grabbed a couple of Stone IPA’s as well.

I’ll also be working my way through what’s left of my stockpile from the school year:
-Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter
-Full Sail Imperial Stout
-Long Trail Imperial Porter
-Some winter beer from Sam Smith’s that I grabbed on clearance for like a dollar

Seriously, a goddamned rainbow should shoot out every time that fridge is opened.

Found this IPA hiding in the fridge and have no idea where it came from.

Was excellent.

Went to the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT over the weekend (they also have a brewery in Boston, MA) the tour was nice, $5 which includes a sample glass and unlimited samples during the time limit. They have a restaurant there also, pretty damn good food.

Anyway while I was there I bought this and drank it last night. VERY good, and I couldn’t pass on it as it is one of there 100 barrel brews that they only do once a year. And it is a different one each year.

A writeup from their site on the 100 Barrel Series…
About 4 years ago a few Harpoon employees thought it would be fun to start up an annual company homebrew competition here at the brewery. Anyone who wanted to brew a beer could, and the winning beer would be determined by popular vote based on a blind sampling at our annual company outing at our brewery in Windsor, VT. The first year there were about a dozen entries from Harpooners in every department. In 2012 there were more than 30. For the last competition it was decided that from here on out, the winning beer each year would be brewed as a 100 Barrel Series offering. So, after a heated contest, the Hoppy Belgian Blonde brewed by John Bagdonas, Kevin Eibensteiner, and Chris Sweatman of Harpoon Distributing Company, under the guidance of brewer Charlie Cummings, came out victorious.

Haven’t noticed that one around but I have tried two others from the 100 barrel series that were excellent and reasonably priced for limited edition stuff. Definitely on my short list of breweries worth a stop.

Speaking of breweries, looks like Shmaltz (brewers of HeBrew) is opening a 50 barrel brewhouse in Clifton park. Grand opening is July 7, I’ll probably go and check it out. I’ll edit and post a link later when I’m on my pc.

Baby is asleep, I’ve finally got a night without a million things to do so I’m breaking into the mystery beer box, here’s what I grabbed. Nothing exotic but still enjoyable.

Not bad almost reminds me of a yuengling yet a tad hoppier and sweeter with some hints of caramel.

blasphemy. It tastes like im drinking wonderful liquid apples.

At that point why not just drink actual cider?

Southern Tier Créme Brülée, just like everything else they make this is amazing. Strong at 9.5%, feels like I’m drinking a vanilla cake, very think, I ate less at dinner after finding that out because you can easily get filled by just one of these (they are not 12oz fyi but 22oz)

And for fans of pumpking, they are releasing a second pumpkin beer this year, be excited.

Ooh I wanna try that! Easy to find? The creme brûlée that is.

Looks good, definitely want to get some hadn’t seen it around. Just had the plum noir last night myself. Really good, a little sweet from the malt but good plum flavor and a nice buzz at 8%

completely pjb, my sister just picked some up in franklin, tn after i told her about it. she snagged a plum noir too and is letting me know how it is, as there were three that i wanted to get and only felt like buying two so i didn’t get the plum.
