Heard there were some fights at Grass Island over the weekend, go figure…
I took a look over that way when I was driving over the GI bridge and it was packed with boats. Go figure though.

I like the idea of this. Not sure if grass island is my scene though. Never launched in the north towns either. Also i’m just a PWC guy. No boat. If something gets put together i may be interested, depending on location and day of course.

As for where to launch there are a few options. Tonawanda launches cost $10 or less (I can’t remember exactly) or there is the black rock launch that’s free.
Isle View (South of Niawanda/Mississippi Mudd’s) is free to launch.
I’m late to the party, but my boat is at my cottage in Sodus. So I’m out.

Niawanda is by permit only and they ticket often. Isle View just up the street is free.
I’ve been down there so many times and for some reason didn’t realize there were two launches, lol.
Why not just do canalside? Doesn’t get to busy especially early in the day. Anchor down and hang for a bit. Doesn’t seem like we’ll have a lot of people to worry about anyway
I prefer a place to stand in the water and hang out. Besides, I don’t really have a float-and-hang type of craft, lol.

I have no tolerance for assholes who drink and drive putting my family at risk. It’s really getting out of hand at Grass Island. I watched a couple Baja’s leave there last weekend and decide to race, shot by a family in a bowrider on either side of them going at least 60 and passed within 30’ on either side. No fucking reason for that.
IMO drinking and boating is 10x worse than drinking and driving because boating is such a free for all as it is. There aren’t established lanes and traffic control devices everywhere. You really have to be paying attention to everything around you on a busy waterway like the east river.
Yeah, there will always be assholes. But it’s like Chippewa: if you don’t want to see them don’t go there at 2am.
Still thinking grass island is the best location, we just do it earlier in the day and on a day where it’s not a nightclub.
