QUAAAAAAATRO!
I almost wrecked hard on the 290 tonight. I was first in a long line of cars stuck behind a 3 plow convoy. Some taxi cab was doing about 5mph in the right lane. The plow in front of me jacked his brakes and almost wiped out as he moved over at the last second. I slammed on the brakes, anti lock kicking in hard as I’m sliding first towards the plow and then towards this guy just about at a dead stop. I had to veer onto the shoulder which of course was a mess. Just barely got it back under control. I guess in hindsight I was following a bit close, but I’m not sure why the taxi was going that slow or how the plow driver didn’t see him until real late. Either way it almost hurt bad.
So that was my white knuckled, butt hole puckering experience for this winter.
Closest I’ve come to an accident this winter was a few weeks ago on the I-690. It was snowing hard, I was in the right lane. There was a minivan riding the line between the right and left lanes (so partially in my lane.) Ahead of us a car spun out and ended up facing me straddling my lane and the side of the road. I had nowhere to go but straight through the gap between cars… and it was SUPER tight. Almost had a Russian dash cam moment. But I hit the gas and made it through while almost taking off my mirrors. The look on the face of the lady to my left was priceless, lol.
i had a funny situation a few years ago…on a side street in richmond hill in an old piece of shit, slide into the back of another car at a stop sign. But, I figure the guy didn’t have insurance or something because he gunned it, fished tailed down the street spun out and ended up facing me then gunned it back down the road and waved to me as he drove by and took off…owell
