Official RedSox vs. Yankees 4 game series thread

Now you don’t want to play the statistics game because it looks unfavorable for the RedSox? What does it matter if I wasn’t alive for the majority of the Yankees victories? The success of a franchise does not get judged on 1/10th of the games they have played.

Who gives a shit? The expos won games in their day too, they don’t even exsist any more :mamoru:

No one cares that the Marlins have WS victories, they aren’t even at .500

Yankees fans are like the old jocks from high school that even though they are fat, divorced and living in a trailor by the 25th reunion are still trying to give kids swirlies and bang cheerleaders because TOMMY WAS THE FUCKING MAN IN HIGSCHOOl! FUCK YEAH!

ahhhhhh The smell of first place its so nice up here :shoot: BOSTON SUCKS ASS

Yes, you guys have been in first so long this season, and have such an overwhelming lead.

Are you really that dumb? :mamoru:

Yeah and since Steven Spielburg hasn’t directed anything good lately, he just a shitty director because all that matters on how good of a director he is, is how good his current movies are, regardless of the academy award winning stuff from the past…

see if the redsox were up by 1/2 game u would be yelling OMG the RedSox are the best they are in 1st place…but because it not the redsox its only a tiny lead…so if the yankees should miraculously win the WS what are u gonna say…that they sucked for the 1st half of the year

Here’s a hint for all you guys, Walter does not care. He loves to get under our skin with his weak attacks on the Yankees and probably enjoys watching everyone get upset than even his BoSox winning because the Yankees choked… To each his own…

i with him

Steven Spielburg is still the same guy… who has earned all of his oscars. How many of the current Yankees have 27 WS rings? How many don’t even have one? :mamoru:

Good argument.

Whatever helps you sleep at night :mamoru:

Exactly, The Yankees organization is THE SAME franchise… Why keep the name if the history doesn’t go with it. Baseball is all about history and it’s rich and plethoral [I just invented this word] past keeps it the best game in America. Baseball means nothing without history.

Oh walter

no matter where the yankees and redsox are against each other, you will always have something bad to say…

I’ll always have something nice to say about you though love muffin

Baseball is nothing without today. THIS season is interesting, THIS season is why we are fans, not knowing is what makes us watch, and cheer. If not, everyone would be content sitting down with a box full of video tapes that they already know whats going to happen, that is not what makes me watch baseball.

Of course it’s nothing without today, however, we cannot fully appreciate and understand today unless we appreciate and understand the past. Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, and vast others have made the game what it is today by setting an appropiate foundation. What would Boston vs Yankees be without the past? It would be another meaningless game that is semi-important because it’s such a close divisional race. No Bucky Dent, No Bill Buckner, No Carlton Fisk and you have an empty WS last year when Boston crawled out of the holes of loserdom.

The past makes us gives meaning to hitting home runs, to stealing bases, to throwing strikes, complete games and perfect games. 1998 was such a great year for baseball because of Roger Maris holding the record for HR before it was smashed by McGuire and Sosa and then by Bonds to a lesser effect.

All this makes the game worth watching today because of such a rich and illustrious past. I watch the Yankees because my grandfather was a cunthair from getting a minor league contract before he was drafter. I watch the Yankees because it was in my family’s blood to root for them. I watch the Yankees because baseball would not be baseball without them and thier PAST!

Anyone can show up to a baseball game and ejoy it. You don’t have to know anything about history to enjoy the game. If you did, there would never be new fans. A vast majority of baseball fans have only a vague familiarity with great names like that, and there is absoltely nothing wrong with that.

Knowing who hit the most tripples in 1965 has absolutely zero relevance to my enjoyment of the game, aside from the potential ability to answer trivia in between innings.

Records are not what makes watching a season thats over 100 games long worth watching. It’s the game itself that makes it worth watching. Its showing up and wondering who’s going to want it more, who’s going to play better, and who’s going to come off the bench and surprise the hell out of you. Records are fun, but there are plenty of seasons with no new records.

I watch the RedSox because I grew up in New England, NONE of my family ever lived there unless you go back to days before baseball and you know what? I’m just as diehard a fan as anyone.

I watch baseball because it’s exciting to watch and fun. What happened 5 years ago doesn’t do a goddamn thing for me. Thats the great thing about the world series, after game 7, everyones on the same page again, and it starts ALL OVER AGAIN, every year.
