I’m just going to leave this here. I’m pretty sure we got 16/17 with this in tote with stop n go for the first 60 miles then @ 80mph the rest of the way from Boston to Duanesburg. Stock tune IIRC.
That’s roughly 4500# of fiberglass and big block + 2000# of steel with wheels.
If you PLAN on doing any real towing (say 5k#+), diesel is the best (read only) option. Gas jobs just don’t cut the mustard when it comes to weight. If you’re going to put chrome 22"s n shit on your truck and maybe haul a sheet of plywood or a garden trailer go get a 1/2 ton gasser. Hell, I had a 2wd 4.3 silverado with 260k on it when I sold it and I was still pulling 18mpg out of it. Best cheap truck ever. IMHO, just because my measly Nissan is rated at 5k#, doesn’t mean I’m going to strap a car trailer or boat to it and tow safely on the highway.
And SUPER MEGA +rep for mention of a C10 4bt. Ultimate build right there. If someone does that I want in on the project.
i’m a big diesel guy, love the way they run, will have one soon (within the next couple years not really soon LOL) i don’t have much need for it other than towing my car but the fuel economy, the power, reliabilty, etc, is my shit. no other truck i will ever own will NEVER be powered by gas.
either a diesel truck or most likely v6 tdi treg.
really would like a 2011 gmc 2500HD sierra denali, dmax of course. but thats a 60k truck right now.
The plan is to make it single axel rear. Put dual tires on the axel and put a dually truck box on it. Paint it back to army green (under hood is still green) and put a white star on the door. Then run everything over :lol
